Starting September, gamers at the PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium levels might lose around 22 games from their PlayStation 4 and 5 libraries. Usually, game developers and publishers agree on one-year or two-year contracts with Sony for these higher tiers of PlayStation Plus. While there are exceptions, this is generally the norm. This consistency makes it possible to anticipate which games will be removed from PlayStation Plus each month. For example, we predicted in July that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt would be removed in August, and that’s exactly what happened. Although we can’t predict with certainty which games will leave next month, it’s certainly not a shot in the dark.
To summarize, here are the games that were added to PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium back in September 2024. These titles may have their contracts end as soon as next month: Far Cry 5, The Plucky Squire, Under the Waves, Night in the Woods, Pistol Whip, Chernobylite, Space Engineers, Ben 10, Road 96, Wild Card Football, Secret Agent Clank, Doom I + Doom II Enhanced, SkyGunner, and Mister Mosquito.
In September 2023, the following games have been added to both PS Plus Extra and Premium. However, since these games are on a two-year contract, they might depart next month: The War of Mine, Contra: Rogue Corps, Odin Sphere, Call of the Sea, West of Dead, Tails Noir, Dragon’s Crown, and Paw Patrol: Adventure City Calls.
These PlayStation Plus games might not leave, but there’s a strong likelihood that some or even many of them could. This list doesn’t feature any big departures, but Far Cry 5, a notable AAA game, is an exception. Additionally, there are some great indie titles like Night in the Woods, The Plucky Squire (which was quite enjoyable when it came out last year), and Pistol Whip.
Fervent fans of PlayStation might be disheartened if the spin-off title “Secret Agent Clank,” a popular exclusive on PSP, were to depart from PlayStation Plus. Although it may seem unlikely for a PlayStation game to leave its platform, it’s not unheard of. For now, let’s keep an open mind and interpret this information cautiously. While there is some basis in history supporting this speculation, it remains just that: speculation.
