Peter Weber’s finale on “The Bachelor” in 2020 is remembered as one of the most dramatic season finales ever, but it seems to have had a significant impact. Madison Prewett, one of the women caught up in the love triangle at the end of Season 24, recently shared her account, stating that the experience was “traumatizing.” She further disclosed that she lost approximately 20 pounds during that time.
On “The Unplanned Podcast”, Madison Prewett and her spouse Grant Troutt shared insights about their relationship, parenthood, and Prewett’s time vying for Peter Weber’s affection on “The Bachelor”. The Season 24 tension reached a climax during the finale when Weber’s mom, Barb, publicly criticized Prewett on live television. When queried about her poise in that heated moment, Prewett needed a moment to reflect, explaining:
I can hardly recall if I watched the entire season or not; let me be upfront with you. The experience was so distressing that I lost around 20 pounds. To this day, I still steer clear of anything related to The Bachelor, and I don’t discuss it often due to its emotional impact.
In the final episode, Peter Weber, a well-known alumnus from the Bachelor series, proposed to Hannah Ann Sluss following Madison Prewett’s decision to exit the show; however, their relationship didn’t last beyond a month. During the live broadcast of “After the Final Rose” following the finale, Weber publicly declared his desire to reconcile with Prewett.
Barb Weber was clearly very upset, as evidenced by her remarks, and she remembered that the family’s first encounter with Madison Prewett had started out bumpy. This happened right after they had grown fond of Peter’s other finalist the day before. Barb expressed this by saying:
The following day, our encounter with Madison got off to a difficult start as she kept us waiting for three grueling hours against our initial plans. Considering the long flight we’d just taken, our energy levels were depleted, and adjusting to the new time zone only added to our fatigue. Despite these circumstances, no apology was extended by Madison upon her arrival.
In a more rephrased manner, Madison Prewett remained quiet before the live audience, as Barb Weber persisted in criticizing her. In addition, she was overheard whispering in Spanish to her husband, encouraging him to join in and make derogatory remarks about Madison.

In the podcast, Madison Prewett shared that she and Peter Weber mutually decided against pursuing a romantic relationship after their time together (implicitly), but she managed to find a positive aspect from the encounter: a silver lining.
Instead of persisting with the relationship, we ultimately chose to part ways. Reflecting on this experience now, I am immensely grateful for that decision and the lessons it taught me. It fostered a strength within me, I believe, in knowing when to speak up, when to remain silent, what to express, and what to keep to myself. In that instance, I learned that true bravery can be found in staying quiet, and true resilience can come from not retaliating or overreacting.
Reflecting on the immediate aftermath following the live finale, the contestant from The Bachelor acknowledges that it probably required some time to reach that decision.
As I exited the stage lights, I must admit, it felt like a punch to the gut. I’m not ashamed to say that, backstage, I sought solace in a quiet corner – a bathroom stall, if you will – where I let out a few tears of my own. After all, every performance is an emotional rollercoaster for us movie buffs!
Given what we heard about the physical strain her ‘Bachelor’ journey put her through, it’s hardly surprising that she prefers not to revisit those moments too frequently.
