On Saturday night, Ben Stiller participated alongside fans at an open-air showing of the film “Zoolander” in Los Angeles, California. Instead of his iconic pose, Blue Steel, he offered them a different surprise. The screening took place at Hollywood Forever Cemetery, hosted by Cinespia, with Stiller present to introduce the movie as its lead actor, director, and co-writer. Lately, Stiller has been making news as a director and executive producer on the show “Severance”, and one of its stars, Tramell Tillman, was there to kick off the event spectacularly. Following Stiller’s introduction, Tillman led the USC marching band in a procession across the stage, just like a memorable scene from “Severance” earlier this year.
In a report by Variety, it was stated that Ben Stiller, while in character as Derek Zoolander, warmly addressed the audience. He expressed his gratitude for their attendance and acknowledged Cinespia’s bravery for hosting the inaugural nine-year anniversary screening of ‘Zoolander 2’. In a humorous twist, he mentioned there might have been a mix-up with ‘Zoolander 1’, before assuring everyone to enjoy the show and not be alarmed by the eerie, disgusting deceased individuals beneath them.
Tillman and the USC band paid homage to the finale of “Severance” Season 2, specifically the scene where his character Mr. Milchick conducts a marching band celebration in the office, by reenacting it. Stiller, still in character, joked that the performance was more like something from “Zoolander” than “Severance.” He suggested they play a tune reminiscent of “Zoolander.” In response, Tillman blew a whistle and the band began to perform “Relax,” a song by Powerman 5000 that features in “Zoolander.” After a brief show, the screening commenced.
Stiller and Severance
Ben Stiller has played a crucial role in launching the series “Severance” and has personally directed a significant portion of its episodes – 11 out of 20 to be exact, not to mention his work behind the scenes as an executive producer. However, this weekend, Stiller revealed that he won’t be directing any episodes for Season 3 due to a busy schedule. He first shared this news in an interview with “The Los Angeles Times,” but later clarified on social media that he remains deeply engaged in the season, continuing his role as executive producer.
Over the past eight months, he’s been working tirelessly on season 3, and there’s no sign of him slowing down. He praised the exceptional directors and team behind the show, expressing his enthusiasm for directing it once more in the future. He has a strong feeling that season 3 will surpass all its predecessors as they keep pushing the envelope.
Right now, you can watch “Severance” on Apple TV+, but they haven’t announced a date for Season 3 yet. On the other hand, both “Zoolander” and “Zoolander 2” are currently available to stream, with the former on Paramount+ and Netflix, and the latter on Amazon Prime Video.
