Onimusha: Way of the Sword ‘The Genma Experiments’ trailer, screenshots

As a thrilled enthusiast, I’m excited to share that Capcom has unveiled a fresh trailer and captivating screenshots for Onimusha: Way of the Sword, highlighting the chilling Genma Experiments!

Here are the latest details, via Capcom:

During today’s presentation, we got our first look at a thrilling new trailer for “Onimusha: Way of the Sword,” which took us deep into a chilling, previously unexplored region within its ominous fantasy realm. The most recent clips also gave us a glimpse of fearsome adversaries and offered a taste of the intense combat mechanics that form the heart of the sword-based action.

Hidden deep within the immersive world of Kyoto’s gaming landscape, there lies a clandestine lab – a chilling den of innovation, where an eerie and enigmatic force called Dokyo tirelessly crafts fresh Genmas. These grotesque offspring born from her malevolent mind are indeed quite unsettling.

(In this version, the first-person perspective is not explicitly used, but the sentence structure and voice attempt to convey a personal gaming experience.)

  • Greater Nue – A ferocious, Chimeric beast that can harness the power of lightning.
  • Kogashira – Humans warped by parasitic Genma that create poisonous clouds of Malice.
  • Chijiko – A grotesque mass of interwoven human faces with far-reaching tentacles.

In order to clear a route among these monstrosities, our hero Musashi Miyamoto uses his unique skills, such as his renowned Issen and Soul Absorption techniques, which are central to the Onimusha gaming adventure.

  • Deflect – A defensive action that reflects attacks back at enemies – including projectiles.
  • Parry – Well-timed blocks parrying incoming attacks can stagger foes, create openings for counterattacks, and even knock enemies back into their allies or terrain.
  • Blazing State – A temporary offensive power-up triggered by landing multiple parries that also generates Blue Souls fueling special attacks using Oni Power.
  • Soul Absorption – Choose the right moment in the heat of battle to absorb the souls of defeated foes to recover health, enhance equipment, unlock new abilities, and more.
  • Issen – Strike enemies a split-second before they land a blow to unleash this high-risk, high-reward counterattack that is an iconic element of the Onimusha series.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword is due out for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam in 2026.
