As a film critic, I’ve seen Sophie Turner tackle some of the most challenging roles an actress can encounter, from the grim depths of Ramsay Snow’s dungeon in “Game of Thrones” to the ethereal, yet terrifying psychic entity of the Phoenix in the “X-Men” series. Yet, even after enduring such on-screen torment, the makers of the chilling thriller “Trust” felt a pang of conscience when subjecting her to authentic horrors off-camera – real cockroaches and rats, no less!
The story revolves around an actress struggling to maintain her privacy amidst a public scandal, seeking refuge in a secluded cabin. However, the peace is shattered as she encounters danger from someone she believed to be trustworthy. The movie, set for release on Friday, August 22nd, has been produced by Oren and Miles Koules. During an interview with ComicBook this week, they praised Turner’s resilience in handling the grueling scenes.
According to Oren, the senior member of this father-son production team, these tools are extremely useful,” he said. “I can assure you they’re practical, but let me emphasize this – I’ve shared my thoughts with Miles, and she truly stands out as the best. I’ve never collaborated with anyone higher ranked on a call sheet who could maintain such a cool demeanor. Remarkably, she handled working in a freezing tank and even had to use a portable baby pool while setting up again. She was simply incredible.
Oren noted that due to Turner’s exceptional professionalism, they completed filming half a day early, which benefited everyone involved. It is worth mentioning that Koules might possess more expertise in such productions than any other Hollywood producer, having worked on ten films within the Saw series. Koules expressed enthusiasm about collaborating with his son, as it allowed him to view his work through a new lens rather than solely relying on accumulated experience.
Collaborating with him is truly enjoyable. Our conversations are delightful and it’s fascinating to view things from his perspective.” He added, “It’s refreshing for me to work on a movie that isn’t in the Saw series, not that I have anything against Saw, but after a decade of them, it felt exciting to venture into unknown territory. This new project has been an extraordinary journey, and much of that is due to working alongside Miles.
The film “Trust” is penned by Gigi Levangie and helmed by Carlson Young. Alongside Turner, it features Katey Sagal, Billy Campbell, Rhys Coiro, Peter Mensah, Forrest Goodluck, and Gianni Paolo in key roles. Starting this Friday, August 22nd, you can catch it in theaters across the U.S., and tickets are already available for purchase.
