In simple, easy-to-understand language: The makers of Ghostrunner, known as One More Level, have unveiled a fresh project and intellectual property named Valor Mortis. This is a first-person action game with elements reminiscent of the Souls series, set to release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC in the year 2026. The narrative revolves around William, a soldier who once fought under Napoleon, who reappears inexplicably in an even crueler rendition of Europe‘s history during the 19th century. You can watch its trailer reveal here.
As a deadly plague sweeps across the land and fearsome creatures reminiscent of Napoleon’s Eternal Guard stand in your way, players will need to employ various weapons, skills (such as fire magic), and strategies to stay alive. Maneuvers like dodging and parrying should seem comfortable for fans of Ghostrunner, but you can also expect “Metroidvania-style” levels filled with hidden mysteries.
According to studio CEO Szymon Bryla in a press statement, “We decided to craft a fresh IP titled ‘Valor Mortis’ for something unique and authentic – a more ominous adventure yet maintaining the level of player challenge. Following the success of ‘Ghostrunner’, we recognized the potential to produce a first-person perspective game, but this time within the Soulslike genre.
Simultaneously, we aimed to remain faithful to our strengths – crafting challenging games for dedicated gamers within an immersive, extensive universe. With ‘Valor Mortis’, we’ve created a unique and innovative take on the Soulslike genre, showcasing the growth of our studio since our past ventures. We eagerly anticipate players experiencing this exciting new project.
An early test play, known as a pre-alpha, will be available shortly, and you can sign up for it right here. Keep an eye out for further updates and gameplay insights on the upcoming game, Valor Mortis, over the next few months.
