Good Omens star Michael Sheen still gets “very moved” by show’s fans and talks David Tennant “chemistry”

Michael Sheen discusses the special bond, or chemistry, he shares with David Tennant in their work on Good Omens, and expresses that he is deeply touched by the enthusiasm shown by the series’ viewers.

At the Edinburgh Television Festival 2025, a notable Welsh figure engaged in a chat with Jane Tranter, the founder of Bad Wolf, about various topics.

In their career conversation, Sheen pointed out that he and Tennant had a history of vying for similar roles in the past but later found themselves collaborating closely instead.

For quite some time, Sheen mentioned that he and David had a casual acquaintance, having interacted socially on several occasions, and even starred together in a film titled “Bright Young Things” directed by Stephen Fry. However, since they didn’t share any scenes together, their interaction was limited, and they didn’t get to know each other well. Moreover, it seemed that they often competed for the same roles, which may have hindered their opportunity to establish a closer relationship in the industry.

The performer observed that the shared aspects between them facilitated their ability to portray both lightness and darkness, a fact that also recalls the nearly interchanged roles they had considered for Good Omens’ characters.

In simpler terms, Sheen pointed out that when they collaborated, they often found themselves in a rhythm where ideas seemed to connect swiftly, leading to the development of their respective characters by influencing each other.

Speaking about the show’s enthusiasts, Sheen shared that he continues to be deeply touched by the impact it has on them, as well as its role in uniting people.

The finale for the series was shot, but it hasn’t been scheduled for release yet. During his visit to the festival, Charlie Sheen didn’t provide any additional information about it.

Neil Gaiman, a co-writer of Good Omens, stepped away from the television adaptation following allegations of sexual misconduct that he vehemently refuted. While he penned the final episode of Good Omens, he did not participate in its production and his company Blank Corporation was not involved.

9 women have openly criticized the author, with their grievances elaborated in a Vulture article from January 2025 and in a Tortoise Media podcast dated July 2024.

Claims were made suggesting that the author, Neil Gaiman, participated in aggressive sexual activities and BDSM against their will without explicit consent. However, he has categorically refuted any accusations of non-consensual or illicit behavior in his official statement.

In his words, while going through the new compilation of stories, there are instances that seem somewhat familiar, as well as instances where he doesn’t recognize them at all. The accounts describe occurrences that did happen, yet there are also descriptions of events that undeniably didn’t transpire.

While I’m not without flaws, I can assure you that I’ve always respected boundaries and have never been involved in any form of sexual activity without consent.
