Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 Locks Two Clans Behind $21.99 Add-On Pack

Developers at The Chinese Room and publishers Paradox Interactive have indeed confirmed that Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is due for release on October 21, but they’ve also disclosed an interesting detail: two of the playable vampire factions within the game will initially be accessible only through a separate $21.99 add-on package.

As a thrilled fan, I’m excited to share that the pre-orders are now live! It’s officially confirmed that the Lasombra and Toreador clans can only be accessed through the Shadows & Silk add-on for Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2. Luckily, this expansion pack is included in the Premium Edition of the game as well!

Upon its initial release, “Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2” is expected to showcase a total of six clans. Interestingly, only four of these clans will be accessible within the standard edition of the game. In addition to Lasombra and Toreador, the upcoming title also includes Brujah, Banu Haqim, Tremere, and Ventrue clans.

In the fictional world of “Vampire: The Masquerade”, clans serve as a means to categorize different types of vampire characters. These clans not only determine a vampire’s role in the urban vampire society but also grant access to unique powers. For instance, the Brujah clan specializes in close-quarter combat, often assuming roles as foot soldiers or bodyguards. In contrast, the Ventrue clan is known for their skills in manipulation and social engineering, frequently rubbing shoulders with high-society elites.

Regarding the two clans falling short due to DLC expansion, it’s worth noting that the Toreador clan is characterized by elegance and beauty, such that those in their presence can become fixated. In societal terms, Toreador vampires are typically artists, using their powers for influence and persuasion, as well as enabling swift movement through abilities like Blink.

As a cunning gamer in the world of darkness, I’d say the Lasombra clan is all about the art of subtle manipulation. We, the Lasombra, prefer to lurk in the shadows, carefully orchestrating events to our advantage. Our unique powers let us tap into the raw emotions of those around us, often leading them to take actions that subtly favor us.

Moreover, we’ve got some sneaky abilities up our sleeves. We can blend seamlessly into the darkness, making us harder to spot, and we can even isolate specific targets by expertly shaping the shadows around us. It’s like having a secret weapon that no one else knows about!

As an ardent enthusiast, I must admit that finding some clans, key elements within the world of Vampire: The Masquerade, hidden behind DLC can feel a tad disheartening for those of us who cherished the original Bloodlines. This game boasted seven unique clans, with two of them offering exclusive gameplay and narrative aspects that made them stand out.

It seems the addition of content for the two clans DLC may have stemmed from the game’s original development facing numerous challenges, with various teams taking turns on it. Recently, even the current developer, The Chinese Room, encountered internal issues, such as layoffs in June. This information was made public through social media posts by VFX artist Jamie Berry and other studio members.

The upcoming game titled “Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2” is set to release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. This game will feature a dark, urban fantasy storyline primarily set in Seattle.
