Netflix Announces Baki x Beastars Crossover (But It’s Not What You Might Think)

In the Itagaki household, there’s a deep-rooted passion for anime and manga. Keisuke Itagaki has dedicated several decades to crafting the captivating story of Baki Hanma, one of the most powerful characters in anime lore, as he battles his father and various global threats. Following in her father’s footsteps, Keisuke’s daughter Paru Itagaki ventured into storytelling herself. The Itagakis’ anime legacy is set to shine even brighter with a special crossover event on Netflix, as they celebrate their franchises. Fans of Baki and Beastars, prepare yourselves for an explosive spectacle – fireworks are coming!

In celebration of Netflix’s 10-year anniversary in Japan, the streaming service is hosting an event where Keisuke Itagaki and Paru Itagaki, known for their separate works, will engage in a discussion. This event takes place on September 5th and signifies a decade since Netflix entered the Japanese market. Although this gathering doesn’t guarantee that the two distinct universes will collide, it promises an intriguing conversation between father and daughter about their popular anime series. Both Baki and Beastars continue to be available on Netflix, although fans are yet to know when exactly both shows will make a comeback.

The Itagaki Anime Empire

Initially, Keisuke Itagaki’s “Baki Hanma” has made quite an impact on Netflix, emerging as one of their most-watched anime series. After the epic confrontation known as the “Father Son War,” Baki achieved what many considered unachievable by defeating his father Yujiro, also known as the Ogre. With this significant milestone met and Baki now titled as the “strongest creature on Earth,” the anime is gearing up for a comeback by introducing a legendary real-life character as an adversary. As of now, no official announcement has been made regarding the release date for the next season of Baki.

Regarding “Beastars”, the first part of its final season was released earlier this year, with the second half due to air in 2026. After wrapping up Legosi’s story, Paru introduced a spin-off titled “Beast Complex”. Another one of her series is scheduled for an anime adaptation. In October, we will see a new show called “Sanda”, which features a powerful Santa Claus and presents quite a distinct narrative compared to what we’ve experienced from Keisuke’s daughter so far.

Although it’s unlikely we’ll see an official anime battle between Legosi and Baki, characters from the Hanma clan have squared off against another popular anime franchise. In a unique collaboration, Baki Hanma Vs. Kengan Ashura brought these two worlds together in a special film. This epic event pitted heroes and villains from both series against each other in intense battles within the ring. Currently streaming on Netflix, let’s hope this platform creates more exciting crossovers like this one in the future!
