Full Look at Resident Evil 9’s Stalker Monster, New “Weapon” Revealed

Capcom’s Resident Evil franchise stands as a legendary figure within the horror genre, with its style occasionally veering towards action or survival horror. However, it is clear that the latest installment, titled “Resident Evil: Vengeance,” is leaning heavily into pure survival horror. A notable example of this shift can be seen in the new Stalker Monster, a creature that has left many fans shivering in their boots due to its sheer terror. It seems that the horrors awaiting players in “Resident Evil: Vengeance” are only just beginning, but early feedback suggests that it’s already off to a chilling start.

At Gamescom, we got a closer look at the latest Stalker Monster in “Resident Evil Requiem”. The new lead character, Grace Ashcroft, is shown scampering and dodging this beast throughout an apparently deserted hospital. As one might expect, attempting to flee repeatedly puts players in direct confrontation with this creature.

Resident Evil Requiem’s New Stalker Monster Is Terrifying

The monstrous entity towers over three meters tall, with an abnormally extended arm tipped with claws. However, its most unsettling feature is its face. Its grotesque visage seems distorted, featuring two mismatched eyes – one eye appears swollen shut – and a disproportionate mouth. This frightening amalgamation of features earns it a reputation that surpasses both Mr. X and Nemesis in players’ dread. Additionally, the creature has been likened to Lisa Trevor by some fans.

Luckily for Grace, she’s found a means of defense against her foe, thanks to a recently discovered weapon that could be compared to an environmental tool. In the movie Resident Evil: Extinction, it seems the creature is vulnerable to light, as indicated by scenes where it appears to be harmed by artificial light sources like lamps and chandeliers. This provides Grace with a refuge in well-lit areas. However, it’s not foolproof, as some fans have pointed out that in one scene, the monster manages to force Grace back into the darkness despite the pain it feels from the light.

Some spectators are musing that the creature could potentially be Grace’s mother, Alyssa Ashcroft, as they’ve noted resemblances between Francisco de Goya’s artwork, “Saturn Devouring His Son,” and the monster’s method of consuming Grace’s head if it manages to capture her. This correlation may suggest a maternal or paternal connection, but some have countered that it could merely be the most efficient way to consume a human head.

More details about the monster are scarce at present, but fans can expect to uncover more when Resident Evil Requiem goes live on February 27th, 2026. This highly anticipated game will be released on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC platforms, with pre-orders available now.
