Developer Dual Effect in partnership with publisher PQube have unveiled a fresh trailer for the horror game “Tormented Souls 2“. This new footage was showcased during the recent Future Games Show at Gamescom 2025, and it offers a sneak peek of the title while additionally confirming its release date – October 23. It will be available on PC platforms like Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG, as well as next-gen consoles such as PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. You can watch it below.
As I, a determined gamer, embark on the journey of Tormented Souls 2, I find myself stepping into the shoes of protagonist Caroline Walker. My destination: the eerie town of Puerto Miller, where I seek aid for my dear sister Anna. However, the trailer’s chilling words reveal that our arrival at Puerto Miller was nothing more than a trap. Tragically, Mother Lucia and her warped cult have snatched Anna away. Now, with grit in my heart, I must confront the terrifying mysteries of this town to rescue my sister from the twisted clutches that hold her captive.
In “Tormented Souls 2,” the story unfolds following the events of the initial game. Caroline, who has yet to recover emotionally from her ordeal at Wildberger Hospital, finds herself once more in the midst of turmoil. It is during this tumultuous period that Anna, a character from the narrative, is found to be struggling with an unidentified malady. This mysterious illness manifests through coughing fits that produce blood, darkening of her eyes, and sudden episodes of fainting.
In terms of gameplay, Tormented Souls 2 draws heavily from the spirit of old-school survival horror games such as Resident Evil and Silent Hill. As Caroline navigates the town of Puerto Miller, she’ll need to arm herself to avoid falling prey to the terrors lurking within. She can craft improvised weapons like nailguns for combat, helping her survive through the town.
In “Tormented Souls 2,” Caroline’s journey resumes, allowing her to navigate various alternate realities, particularly upon reaching Villa Hess. Utilizing her skills from the initial game, she can venture into the ‘Other side,’ where she can revisit ‘flashes’ – memories saved on video tapes. Actions Caroline takes in these flashbacks and within the Other side will also influence events in the actual world.
In the game Tormented Souls 2, some of the opponents Caroline will encounter are:
1. The Iron Maiden – This is a massive, brutal enforcer, resembling more of a colossal beast. It wields a giant crucifix and wears a thick, armored mask, making it a fearsome adversary.
2. The Harvester – This creature is a blend of metal and flesh. It carries a buzzsaw as its weapon, and its mouth is lined with razor-sharp teeth. These two opponents will surely test Caroline’s mettle in the game.
The sequel to “Tormented Souls” is expected to offer a comprehensive narrative, as announced by Dual Effect. This narrative promises multiple layers of surprises and unveilings for players to unravel, helping them grasp the intricacies of the storyline more completely.
Initially announced in 2023, the title had been anticipated since its first trailer, with the studio confirming that “Tormented Souls 2” would adopt a traditional horror style using fixed camera angles to intensify the fear. Interestingly, the original “Tormented Souls” was launched a year prior in 2022 across PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch platforms.
