In Dragon Ball Super, the stakes were raised significantly as Son Goku and the Z-Fighters faced increasingly formidable threats, including gods and alternate universes, which made most shonen antagonists significantly more powerful than previous adversaries like Majin Buu and Cell. Given the influx of villains in the series, it seems fitting to rank them according to their peak power levels. You might be surprised by where these villains end up on the scale.

10.) Toppo

During the Tournament of Power, several formidable opponents joined the series, but Toppo stood out as a “young God of Destruction,” towering above characters like Kefla and Hit. Despite not being the strongest warrior from his universe, as that title belonged to Jiren, Toppo possessed a hidden power that allowed him to defeat Golden Frieza initially, and it took all of Vegeta’s might to eventually overcome him.

Since then, Goku has been honing this transformation, with no indication that Jiren has grown stronger since their initial encounter. In comparison to the more powerful villains on this list, Jiren struggled to keep up in a head-to-head fight.

Cell Max came into existence due to the reemergence of the Red Ribbon Army, resulting in a monstrous character with less intelligence than his predecessor but an overwhelming amount of raw power. In their struggle against this reformed organization, Piccolo and Gohan activated new transformations; however, only Gohan’s Beast form was able to finally vanquish the reinvented Cell. In the Dragon Ball Z series, Gohan himself implies that Goku and Vegeta might not have been capable of defeating Cell Max at their present strength levels, suggesting he might be a match for Jiren in a one-on-one battle.

In the Dragon Ball Super film, the fearsome Legendary Super Saiyan Broly proved too powerful for even Goku, Vegeta, and Frieza to handle. As an energy-absorbing sorcerer, Moro could draw power from Broly during a fight. Interestingly, Goku managed to defeat Moro by tapping into the collective energy of his allies. Despite having a lower power level than some of the other warriors, Moro’s position on the list is justified by their superior abilities and achievements.

Granolah, a formidable interstellar outlaw, climbed his way up the ranks of villains due to his immense power. He acquired this strength by using Dragon Balls from Planet Cereal, and his sole ambition was to avenge the loss of his family and people, who were killed by the Saiyan race, including Goku and Vegeta. As it so happens, Granolah saw these two Saiyans as prime targets for retribution. However, there were clever loopholes that could be exploited when it came to the wish he made with the fourth Dragon Ball on our list.

4.) Gas

After Granolah’s battle against Goku and Vegeta, a member of the Heeter organization named Gas demonstrated a strength greater than all three. Using the Dragon Balls to boost his power, Gas challenged the trio in a battle destined to be an exciting spectacle once it airs. Despite his enhanced strength, he was eventually defeated by an opponent who was located outside of the universe at the time when Gas made his wish for increased power.

3.) Black Frieza

In Dragon Ball Super, Frieza has made significant progress. After being resurrected, he mastered his Golden form, and later, pushed boundaries even further. Fortunately, during the times when Gas and Granolah were making their wishes, Frieza was off-world, honing his skills in one of the Hyperbolic Time Chambers. During this time, he spent an extended period enhancing his power level, ultimately attaining the “Black Frieza” form. With a single attack, he took out Goku and Vegeta at their peak strength. However, despite being the most powerful mortal in the universe, Frieza still finds himself unable to defeat our top two characters.

2.) Beerus

To this day, we’re yet fully aware of Beerus’ true power, but he tops our list as no opponent, be they Z-Fighters or villains, has managed to defeat him in combat. Even the fusion Gogeta might not triumph if they were to face off against the feline destroyer. Interestingly, a villain from an earlier season of Dragon Ball Super may hold the potential to beat Beerus at his peak strength.

1.) Goku Black

Due to Zamasu’s fusion with Goku Black and his inherent immortality, there’s no doubt that this Dragon Ball Super villain tops our list. By splitting into countless copies that fill the sky, he becomes nearly impossible to defeat. In fact, the only known way to defeat him is for Xeno, the supreme being, to completely erase the universe he resides in, thus eliminating Future Trunks’ timeline entirely. While some fans might find this choice controversial, it’s hard to envision any other villain in Dragon Ball Super’s past who could withstand an attack from Xeno himself.
