Camilla Luddington is teasing a heart-pounding return for Grey’s Anatomy this fall. 

Shonda Rhimes’ series concluded its 21st season with an explosive finale, leaving many fans eagerly anticipating the next season. However, the actress who portrayed Dr. Jo Wilson on the show for nearly 14 years revealed that rejoining for the premiere of season 22 has proven to be a challenging endeavor.

In a private conversation with TopMob News, Camilla shared her eagerness for certain return performances she’s looking forward to filming, mentioning that there have been some amusing opening episodes. However, she admitted that this particular one had initially filled her with apprehension.

As she put it, “The finale was crazy, our premiere is even crazier. There is so much going on.”

Given that the last episode ended on a suspenseful note, with the well-being of Jo’s husband Dr. Atticus “Link” Lincoln (Chris Carmack) uncertain, Camilla was filled with anticipation about what was ahead, expressing, “I had to catch my breath returning. It’s been quite intense.

After resuming work on “Grey” in July, the 41-year-old has confessed that the upcoming premiere (scheduled for October 9 on ABC) has been a constant source of concern for her.

She remarked, “I can hardly imagine how they will manage to shoot it within regular filming days; this feels more like a three-week movie!” It’s quite astonishing, given the abundance of activities and non-stop action. As a mom, one of the most annoying things is when your child returns home, you open their backpack and the lunch is untouched. You open the food, only to hear them complain, “I’m hungry!” But then you realize they didn’t eat their packed lunch. This snack is great because once it’s in their lunchbox, I can be sure that at least that part of their meal will be consumed.

Camilla openly confesses that she too maintains a cache in her vehicle, making the commute home from work and school significantly more convenient for her.

When she gets back from school, her children are really hungry – almost irritable, she explained. And that drive home? Not exactly a joyride for her.

Later, she was introduced to George O’Malley in the intern locker room. Approximately two and a half seasons following his demise, Denny made his reappearance, but this time as a spirit. In one of the more absurd scenes ever depicted in the series, Spirit Denny was portrayed engaging in intimate acts with Izzie. This spectral encounter served multiple purposes: it alerted viewers and Izzie herself that something was amiss. The underlying issue turned out to be advanced stage IV melanoma, a form of skin cancer that had metastasized, reaching locations such as Izzie’s brain.

Instead of anticipating Izzie’s departure at the end of season five, the mystery surrounding George’s disappearance should have hinted at trouble for character O’Malley. After a tragic hospital shooting incident that occurred two seasons ago, Shonda Rhimes felt it was appropriate to subject a group of doctors to more trials. In the final episode of the eighth season, a plane carrying Meredith, Derek, Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh), Lexie, Mark Sloan (Eric Dane), and Arizona Robbins (Jessica Capshaw) were on their way to Boise, Idaho for a surgery on conjoined twins. However, the plane crashed in the wilderness, leaving them stranded, injured, and with no one aware that they had crashed. This accident resulted in the loss of Mark and Lexie’s lives, severe injuries to Arizona’s leg, and almost permanent damage to Derek’s hand.

In simpler terms, how did Grey’s Anatomy bid farewell to Cristina Yang, played by Sandra Oh, at the end of season 10? The show unexpectedly reintroduced Cristina’s former fiancé, Preston Burke (Isaiah Washington), who had left her at the altar in season three. To entice Cristina, he offered his hospital in Switzerland. You might recall that Washington’s return to the series was significant given his controversial exit, which included using a derogatory term towards co-star T.R. Knight, making this reunion particularly surprising.

In the season 10 finale of the show, Cristina bid farewell, and Dr. Maggie Pierce, her replacement in cardio-thoracic surgery, was introduced as the new head. In a surprising turn of events in the episode’s last moments, Dr. Maggie Pierce (played by Kelly McCreary) shared with Richard (James Pickens Jr.) that she was actually the daughter of the legendary Dr. Ellis Grey.
