The gang from South Park is still going strong, with their 27th season currently airing on Comedy Central and Paramount+. Fans of animated series might need to be patient, as it seems the latest season will see episodes released less frequently than before. A recent update suggests that Stan, Kyle, Kenny, and Cartman are taking a break from their weekly schedule to give the creators extra time to work on each episode. Essentially, South Park’s new season is stepping away from its regular release pattern to allow for more creative freedom.
According to a recent report from Deadline, the popular animated series South Park is planning on releasing new episodes every two weeks, or potentially more frequently. This could mean that the twenty-seventh season may conclude on December 10th if they stick with this schedule. A source close to the producers of South Park mentioned, “Given the current events involving Trump, and the need for our episodes to be as accurate and well-crafted as possible, we might need a bit more time than usual to produce this year’s episodes. If that means extending the season, so be it.
Paramount Talks South Park
According to a Deadline report, an insider from Paramount shared their perspective on the delays, stating that they were not causing significant concerns for the studio. The source expressed satisfaction with the show’s performance, saying, “We’re not going to dispute what’s successful. The ratings are excellent, and the show is generating a lot of buzz – if they want to extend the season to 20 weeks for 10 episodes, that’s fine.” Despite the initial controversy surrounding the first three episodes of South Park’s latest season, Paramount CEO David Ellison has been supportive of creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone.
Earlier this year, Ellison issued a statement emphasizing that “South Park” is renowned for its equal-opportunity humor, as creators Matt and Trey never shy away from poking fun at everyone indiscriminately. With Paramount investing $1.5 billion USD into the show for another five years, there’s a great deal of anticipation surrounding the future of “South Park.” Each year, ten new episodes are planned, which means we can expect around fifty more episodes in total.
Regarding the fourth episode of the current season of South Park, we haven’t received a sneak peek yet. Known for their last-minute work, creators Stone and Parker might not even know what the upcoming episode will bring for the peaceful Colorado town. With Randy Marsh selling Tegridy Farms in the last episode, there are numerous storylines left unexplored.
