As a die-hard fan of comics, I can’t help but feel awe when I think about Wonder Woman. This iconic superheroine has not only revolutionized the comic industry but also redefined what it means to be a powerful female character. Her legacy extends far beyond the pages of her comic books, earning her a place among the mightiest heroes in the vast DC Multiverse.
Raised on the secluded island of Themyscira by the formidable Amazons, the fiercest women warriors on Earth, Wonder Woman demonstrated that she was destined for greatness from the start. Despite being the greatest of her people, she left the safety and comfort of her homeland to venture into the human world, determined to contribute to the fight for justice and peace.
From battling gods of unimaginable power, terrifying monsters, cunning supervillains, and even cosmic horrors that threaten the very fabric of the multiverse, Wonder Woman has shown time and again that she is more than a match for any adversary. Even going toe-to-toe with Superman himself, a feat few other heroes have ever dared to attempt, she has proven herself as one of the greatest heroes in existence. Her unwavering commitment to truth, justice, and love has earned her a special place in the hearts of fans everywhere.
As a movie-loving aficionado, I can’t help but express my excitement about the long-awaited crossovers between DC Comics and Marvel after decades apart! Despite the fact that Wonder Woman doesn’t have her own crossover title just yet (though she boasts an impressive collection of variant covers), it’s only a matter of time before we see her entangled in this inter-universe brawl.
The thrill of such crossovers lies in watching our cherished heroes from one realm go toe-to-toe with the heroes of another, and there are certainly many Marvel characters that Wonder Woman could conquer. However, it’s also essential to acknowledge that there are some Marvel titans that would undoubtedly give her a taste of something she seldom encounters: defeat. Here are seven such formidable Marvel heroes who could handily best the Amazonian Princess.
1. Thanos – The Mad Titan with the Infinity Gauntlet, whose power level far surpasses even the Gods of Olympus.
2. Galactus – The Devourer of Worlds, a cosmic entity that consumes planets to sustain its existence, would likely prove too powerful for Wonder Woman.
3. Silver Surfer – His cosmic surfboard, Power Cosmic, and nigh-invulnerability make him a formidable foe for even the mighty Amazonian warrior.
4. Hulk – When Bruce Banner transforms into the uncontrollable green beast known as the Hulk, there’s little Wonder Woman could do to subdue him in a physical confrontation.
5. Thor Odinson – The God of Thunder possesses immense strength, resilience, and magical abilities that would put even Wonder Woman’s arsenal to the test.
6. Phoenix Force – When Jean Grey merges with the cosmic entity known as the Phoenix Force, she becomes one of the most powerful beings in the Marvel universe, easily overpowering Wonder Woman.
7. Living Tribunal – As an embodiment of universal law and order, the Living Tribunal’s power level is beyond comprehension for even a warrior like Wonder Woman.
7) Rogue

Rogue, with her unique ability to siphon life energy from others, particularly those with superpowers, has had a tumultuous existence. She was taken in by Mystique and Destiny following a hard childhood. As a member of Mystique’s Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, Rogue demonstrated incredible prowess, managing to single-handedly overpower the Avengers. Later, she joined the X-Men, where she honed her combat skills and learned to control her powers more effectively. Losing the powers she took from Carol Danvers and gaining similar abilities from Wonder Man ensued. She’s since led both the X-Men and the Avengers, earning a reputation as one of the toughest heroes around.
Although Rogue doesn’t match Wonder Woman in terms of raw strength or skill, her power-draining ability allows her to drain even more energy from Wonder Woman, creating a balance between their powers. While Wonder Woman is more adept than Rogue, Rogue has no qualms about bending the rules. This upcoming battle promises to be exhilarating, but in the end, it’s likely that Wonder Woman will succumb to Rogue’s power-draining abilities.
6) Phoenix

Jean Grey, initially Charles Xavier’s first pupil, honed her telepathic skills under his tutelage following the traumatic death of her childhood friend. Known for her role as the eventual vessel of the cosmic entity known as the Phoenix Force (Marvel comics’ convoluted lore notwithstanding), Jean mastered both her basic telepathic and telekinetic abilities while serving with the X-Men. Currently, she embodies the Phoenix, wielding divine powers across the universe to uphold justice. Her battles against the formidable antagonist Thanos and his Black Order have showcased remarkable feats of power. Unlike Wonder Woman, who possesses godly blessings from the Greek pantheon, Jean’s abilities far surpass those required to challenge the might of the Phoenix, making this conflict largely dependent on Jean’s discretion.
5) Hercules

Hercules, known as the Power Prince and Zeus’ son, is a legendary figure from ancient times who has now joined today’s superhero group. With near invincibility and extraordinary strength, he has a deep passion for life – food, drink, companionship, parties, and battles. Having fought for centuries, Hercules is an exceptional combatant, though not a martial artist per se.
He’s clashed with Thor and the Hulk, been part of the Avengers several times, but faces fierce opposition from Wonder Woman. Due to historical events in Greek mythology, where he went to war against the Amazons and allegedly assaulted Hippolyta (Wonder Woman’s queen), Wonder Woman harbors intense dislike for Hercules. If they were to fight, her speed, aerial combat skills, and fighting prowess would make it an intense battle – but eventually, it would be difficult for her to overcome the sheer power of Hercules. Despite her best efforts, Wonder Woman might struggle against his strength, ultimately leading to his victory in the fight.
4) Storm

In simpler terms, Storm, a member of the X-Men team, is exceptionally powerful among even the most powerful mutants. Often referred to as a goddess, her abilities extend beyond controlling elements like wind and lightning; she also has command over electromagnetic energy due to her friendship with Magneto. She possesses magical heritage and was recently chosen to host Eternity, making her power levels comparable to many gods.
Storm is not only powerful but a skilled fighter, particularly adept at knife fighting, and even worthy of Mjolnir. In comparison, Wonder Woman boasts strength, speed, durability, and combat skills, but Storm’s control over the elements poses a significant threat. Capable of summoning high-velocity winds and destructive lightning bolts, Storm can keep stronger opponents at bay before unleashing her full power against them. Even without her Eternity powers or her Asgardian hammer, Storm would still prove formidable.
Wonder Woman is powerful, but her strength may not be enough to withstand Storm’s elemental control. This assessment assumes a basic fight between the two; should Storm reclaim her Eternity powers or receive her hammer again, she would likely emerge victorious more effortlessly.
3) Captain Marvel

In a bid to establish a formidable female character akin to DC’s Wonder Woman within their universe, Marvel has developed Captain Marvel with varying degrees of success, yet they have undeniably excelled in portraying her as immensely powerful. A distinguished figure among Marvel’s legacy heroes, Carol Danvers once served in the Air Force before partnering with the original Captain Marvel. Her Kree heritage manifested and she transformed into Ms. Marvel, subsequently joining the Avengers. Throughout her tenure, she experienced several transformations, including becoming Binary, working with the Starjammers, and regaining her initial powers. Upon returning to Earth, she re-joined the Avengers and overcame alcoholism, discovering her true heroic potential in the House of M universe.
As Captain Marvel, she is stronger than ever before, capable of flying at speeds surpassing light, possessing vast stores of cosmic energy, absorbing energy, and launching powerful blasts. While Wonder Woman remains a formidable opponent, Captain Marvel’s diverse array of powers gives her an edge due to her capability to attack from a distance and continuously unleash energy attacks. Although Wonder Woman is impressive, Captain Marvel’s extensive power set is likely to secure her the victory.
2) Thor

Thor is known as the God of Thunder, ruler of Asgard, and one of Earth’s strongest protectors. Throughout history, various individuals have wielded his powers, but none compare to Thor Odinson. For countless battles, he’s defended Asgard against its enemies, demonstrating a combat skill unmatched by many. He possesses immense strength and durability, capable of striking opponents with lightning as a result of being a storm god. Mjolnir amplifies his abilities and provides additional energies for combat. Since ascending to the throne of Asgard, he’s gained the power of the Odinforce, making him even more formidable. Although Wonder Woman has proven worthy enough to lift Mjolnir in canon, it won’t be enough to defeat Thor. Even if she manages to obtain it, Thor still holds the advantage due to his greater power from the Odinforce. This fight promises to be intense and challenging for Thor like no other battle he’s faced before. While Wonder Woman would land numerous blows and almost win, Thor’s superior strength gives him the edge needed to secure victory.
1) Hulk

The Hulk is the most powerful character in the Marvel Universe, with strength that knows no bounds, an incredible healing factor, and near-invincibility. Empowered by the One Below All, he’s nearly unstoppable and has defeated almost every hero in the Marvel Universe. Even teams like the Avengers’ strongest lineups stand no chance against him, as he plows through anything that stands in his path.
In a confrontation with Wonder Woman, the Hulk holds significant advantages. Although Wonder Woman might be stronger than Hulk at base level, his strength increases exponentially as he becomes angrier, making him even more formidable. This fight promises to be intense, with both characters giving their all. However, it’s likely that the Hulk’s seemingly infinite power will allow him to overpower Wonder Woman, rendering her unconscious in the end.
