The Paper Cast Reacts to John Krasinski & Steve Carell’s Set Visit

This sweet surprise was better than pretzel day. 

Prior to the September 4th debut of the NBC show “The Paper”, the cast of the spin-off shared an account of a visit from Steve Carell and John Krasinski, who played characters Michael Scott and Jim Halpert in the original series. The two also offered some insightful advice during their visit.

On one of our first days filming, I was getting ready in the hair and makeup trailer (with possibly some eye patches) when John Krasinski and Steve Carell entered. They looked absolutely amazing, Chelsea Frei who portrays Mare shared with TopMob News’ Francesca Amiker. “They were incredibly kind,” she added.

In a surprising turn of events, Chelsea and her co-star Sabrina Impacciatore (portraying Esmerelda) were deeply impressed by the authenticity displayed by the original American series’ cast members.

As a devoted admirer, I found myself reflecting on our conversation about feeling apprehensive stepping into the shadows of their legendary series. They shared with me that they too had felt that way when they joined the UK’s version of “The Office” and advised me to approach it as its unique entity.

Speaking as someone who had the privilege of encountering Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey, both of whom hail from the iconic “The Office”, I must say that every cast member I’ve met from the original series has shown an exceptional level of encouragement and support.

Meanwhile, Sabrina was particularly amazed by the old Dunder Mifflin manager’s visit since she’s long admired him for quite some time and is a big fan of his work.

Sabrina remarked that meeting Steve Carell felt like a fortunate event. She had even journeyed from Italy the previous year just to watch him on Broadway, an experience she would never forget and consider one of her most treasured moments in life.

According to a former cast member of “The White Lotus,” Steve advised her to simply savor the process of collaborating with series creator Greg Daniels. Reflecting on the conversation, she recounted that he encouraged them to “relax” and let go, which they indeed did.

Concurrently, Domhnall Gleeson – the actor portraying Ned Sampson, a contrasting character to Steve’s Michael – mentioned that he had sought advice from both Steve and John on earlier projects before agreeing to star in “The Paper” and collaborate with its creator Greg.

According to Domhnall, they simply exclaimed, “He’s outstanding! If you ever get the opportunity to collaborate with him, seize it!” Later on, as he recalled to TopMob, they proved correct as he indeed had a great time.

As a dedicated fan, I can’t help but wonder what Steve Carell, the genius behind the iconic character Michael Scott, has been up to lately. He’s certainly been keeping busy, with roles in both blockbuster films and hit television series, making him one of Hollywood’s most sought-after talents.

In a notable comeback to the small screen, Carell found himself back on TV through Apple TV+’s “The Morning Show,” where he shared the limelight with Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston. His performance in this series even landed him an Emmy nomination. Additionally, he could be seen in Netflix’s productions titled “Space Force” and “The Patient.” Interestingly, Carell served as executive producer for both these projects as well.
