Despite the heartbreaking loss of Kentaro Miura, the creator of The Band of the Hawk (also known as Berserk), the series has persisted due to the dedication of writer Kouji Mori and the artists at Studio Gaga. Regrettably, Guts’ aspirations for retaliation against Griffith and attaining a peaceful life away from combat remain elusive. As fresh, brutal installments of the manga are published, Japan is flooded with promotional goods for this ominous franchise to stir excitement for what awaits the Black Swordsman. Needless to say, Berserk enthusiasts may find this intriguing.
The upcoming chapter of the manga “Berserk” will be released in Young Animal magazine on September 12th. Meanwhile, Volume 43 of the series has already been released in Japan. To boost sales for the new compilation, a promotional campaign has been launched featuring the villainous character Rakshas. Despite his intention to eliminate Griffith like Guts, Rakshas, who is considered the top assassin of the new Band of the Hawk, believes he can defeat the White Hawk by joining forces with the villainous group comprising both humans and demons. You can find images of the promotional posters for the latest “Berserk” volume that have been displayed in Japan below.

Berserk’s Darkest Assassin
In the current manga narrative, Griffith’s power has never been greater, a concerning fact for Guts and his companions. Yet, against all odds, our heroes are managing to make progress. Recently, the Black Swordsman’s team has entered the Eastern Empire called Kushan, a realm that shares similar goals regarding the fate of the White Hawk. In reaction to this united force, Griffith dispatched Rakshas and an army of demons towards Kushan, aiming to quell the issue before it reached Falconia.
In this intense battle, Rakshas nearly eradicated Guts. Fortunately, the Black Swordsman was rescued by Silat and Griffith’s top assassin was slain, although he had previously returned from death. Amazingly, Guts lived on, but Kushan views him as a danger to their country due to the mark on his neck and has exiled him in an unusual way – a mysterious cavern. Given Berserk’s history, Guts’ time in the cave is likely to be far from enjoyable for our hero.
Despite Berserk’s manga continuing its journey with Mori and Studio Gaga artists aiming to conclude it in tribute to Kentaro Miura, there’s no official news about an anime adaptation yet. The last time we saw Guts wield the Dragon Slayer on screen was through 2022’s Berserk: The Golden Age Arc – Memorial Edition, which combined footage from the film trilogy and included additional scenes initially left out. Here’s hoping that someday, the Band of the Hawk will grace our screens once more, as there’s a lot of manga content still waiting to be animated.
