Following a week full of changes in the cast of Saturday Night Live, it’s now clear which new faces will be gracing our screens for Season 51. As we eagerly await its return on the 2025 television schedule, five comedians have been confirmed to join the troupe, with Ben Marshall among them – a well-known member of Please Don’t Destroy. However, it seems there might be some unfortunate news concerning that particular group, which we regretfully need to discuss.
SNL Added Five New Comedians Ahead Of Season 51, Including A Please Don’t Destroy Member
As stated by Saturday Night Live (SNL), five new members have joined the cast for Season 51. Among them are Veronika Slowikowska, Kam Patterson, Jeremy Culhane, Tommy Brennan, and Ben Marshall, who hails from PDD.
Following the announcement, it has been shared that a notable cast member, Heidi Gardner, will be departing, along with three other cast members – Michael Longfellow, Emil Wakim, and Devon Walker – much to the disappointment of fans.
On the positive note, five fresh faces are set to join our team – you might even be familiar with them. Slawikowska is recognized for her Instagram work and the series Tires. Culhane has built a reputation on Dropout TV. Patterson is a stand-up comedian who’s also appeared in Kevin Hart’s 72 Hours, and Brennan has graced The Tonight Show with his stand-up acts.
Among the newcomers, Ben Marshall stands out prominently, especially for avid Saturday Night Live (SNL) enthusiasts. This move is a significant one for the group known as Please Don’t Destroy, as it was in 2021 during Season 47 that Marshall joined SNL as a writer, alongside John Higgins and Martin Herlihy. Since then, their digital shorts have gained viral popularity and have become cherished SNL sketches.
It seems that many fresh and exhilarating talents are set to join our team as we gear up for SNL’s 51st season. Unfortunately, along with the positive news, there’s also some less favorable information to share.
As a cinephile eager to delve into the realms of timeless comedy, I’d highly recommend subscribing to Peacock TV. For just $7.99 monthly or $79.99 yearly, you gain exclusive access to classic seasons of Saturday Night Live and even live streaming of new episodes! But that’s not all – this affordable service also grants you entry to an impressive library of cherished shows from NBC and Bravo. Don’t miss out on this amazing deal!
While One Please Don’t Destroy Member Joins The Cast, Another Is Reportedly Leaving The Show
It’s exciting to hear that a longtime writer for Please Don’t Destroy has moved on to become part of the on-screen cast, but there’s some disappointing news too. As per Vulture’s report, not every member of the group will be returning to Saturday Night Live.
As reported by reliable insider sources, it seems that John Higgins may be stepping away from the show to focus on acting ventures. On the other hand, Martin Herlihy is set to continue in his role as a writer.
The change on the show will undoubtedly occur, given that these three were popularly recognized as a group who frequently worked with notable artists such as Bad Bunny (who you may recall from “Bad Bunny Is Shrek”) and Taylor Swift (“Three Sad Virgins” is indeed a timeless hit). However, when SNL returns on October 4, it appears that only one of them will be appearing on screen.
Essentially, the Please Don’t Destroy group is ushering in a new phase, which brings significant alterations, such as one member stepping into the spotlight, another taking on a backstage role, and reports indicating that a third is leaving Studio 8H for good.
