NFL Commissioner Weighs in on Taylor Swift Performing at Super Bowl

Swifties are still hoping that Taylor Swift will make Levi’s Stadium shimmer next year.

With excitement building for the 2026 Super Bowl, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell hinted at the potential of having the “Bejeweled” singer as the main act during the halftime performance.

Roger stated during his September 3 interview on Today that he would always enjoy having Taylor play. He considers her an exceptionally gifted individual, and it’s clear that she would be welcomed anytime.

When journalist Savannah Guthrie inquired about possible performances by Taylor during the upcoming game, which is scheduled at the Levi’s Stadium owned by the San Francisco 49ers in February, Roger evaded a clear answer to her question.

He responded by saying he couldn’t share any information about it. Regarding her potential attendance at the popular game, he added that it was uncertain or possibly undecided.

Cohost Craig Melvin then asked when viewers could expect to hear an announcement.

Roger jokingly mentioned he’s depending on his friend, Jay-Z, to assist him with something. He said the situation is in Jay-Z’s control and he’s just waiting for things to unfold.

Fans are eagerly anticipating Taylor’s performance on the much-desired stage, particularly in the last two years. Given that the star of “Midnights” is now engaged to Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce, their relationship has significantly influenced the NFL since late 2023. Not only are they scoring romantic victories, but previously, Roger has praised the attention this couple brings to sports.

He mentioned during a Super Bowl press conference last August that having her involved was fantastic. It generates excitement, and attracts a new generation of enthusiastic fans, especially young women, who wonder why she’s attending the game and what draws her to it.

Additionally, he mentioned, “Aside from being a football enthusiast, I find it terrific that she shares this interest with us. Not only do we have Travis, but also Taylor – two remarkable young individuals who appear genuinely content.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s romantic journey kicked off in July 2023, as Taylor’s Eras Tour landed at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri.

As a diehard fan of Taylor Swift, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end eagerly watched the performance, hoping to present her with a friendship bracelet bearing his number. Unfortunately, his attempts were thwarted because she was engaged in her pre-performance routines.

Travis expressed his disappointment during the July 26 episode of his New Heights podcast, saying he was disappointed that she doesn’t speak before or after her performances because she needs to conserve her voice for the 44 songs she sings. As a result, he felt a bit let down since he couldn’t present her with one of the bracelets he crafted for her.

Following a mishap he later called “rock solid” (Taylor’s words), Travis boldly extended an invitation to the Grammy-winning artist, asking him to catch the Chiefs game at Arrowhead Stadium.

He shared on The Pat McAfee Show that he had made an invitation: “I tossed the idea around, I tossed the ball into her court,” he said. “I suggested to her, ‘You know, you always put on a great show at Arrowhead Stadium, maybe you’d like to come see me do the same and find out who puts on a better light show.’ So, let’s wait and see what unfolds in the coming days.

When Travis made his initial meeting with Taylor, he already had a mustache that he had grown since August during the training camp.

In his later recollections, he mentioned that during that period, “The mustache and the number 87 were quite iconic for a while, and I sported them when I first encountered Taylor.

By early September, according to a reliable source familiar with the matter, TopMob News learned that Travis and Taylor had been exchanging texts occasionally and engaging in brief conversations.

“It’s been very low-key,” the insider explained, “as he’s been in season.”

Following Travis’ invitation, Taylor attended a match with Donna Kelce, the athlete’s mother, at Arrowhead Stadium, where they watched Travis play for the Chiefs against the Chicago Bears. Post-game, Taylor and Travis were spotted sharing affection in a nearby bar.

While stories suggested they met for the first time face-to-face, the “Karma” artist later explained that they had actually spent quite a bit of time building a relationship prior to their encounter.

As Taylor noted, “We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date.”

To suggest that things were getting more serious, Taylor took her group – which included friends like Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Sophie Turner, Hugh Jackman, Sabrina Carpenter, and Antoni Porowski – to watch the Chiefs compete against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

A notable indication that Travis might indeed be “The 1” is the growing camaraderie Taylor has developed with Brittany Mahomes – wife of Travis’ close friend and fellow football player Patrick Mahomes – both on and off the field during their NFL matches.

On October 14th, the couple unexpectedly appeared on an episode of Saturday Night Live, taking their relationship to the small screen. Their New York City adventure continued with attending the after-party for the NBC sketch show and having a romantic evening at the Waverly Inn.

During a free week from his NFL schedule, Travis made a trip to Argentina to attend the South American leg of Taylor’s Eras Tour. Not only did the football player get closer to Taylor’s father, Scott Swift, at the November 11 concert in Buenos Aires, but he also received a special acknowledgement from the stage.

“Karma is that guy on the Chiefs,” Taylor sang, “coming straight home to me.”

Following the performance, the artist associated with “Midnights” was spotted rushing backstage towards Travis and enthusiastically planting a heartfelt kiss on him.

Taylor addressed the lavender craze surrounding her appearances at Travis’ games.

She shared with Time magazine that they would be attending a moment where he expresses his passion, demonstrating mutual support. They’re not concerned about others being present. Conversely, in contrast to this openness, it takes considerable effort to maintain privacy and keep one’s relationship hidden from view.

The renowned music star made Travis’ December 17th match a celebratory event for the whole family by inviting her father to support and cheer him on.

On New Year’s Eve for the very first time, Taylor and Travis celebrated together, exchanging a tender kiss as the clock counted down to the start of January at midnight.

While further strengthening his relationship with Travis, Taylor spent time with his brother Jason Kelce and Kylie Kelce during the Kansas City Chiefs’ matchup against the Buffalo Bills.

Taylor met up with Travis on the football field after the Chiefs clinched the AFC Championship, securing their place in the 2024 Super Bowl. After the exciting win, they celebrated by sharing a heartfelt kiss and expressing their love for each other, exchanging “I love you.

“Tay, I’m gonna enjoy with the guys,” he told her. “I love you—so much it’s not funny.”

On February 11, 2024, following Travis’s leadership that secured a win for the Kansas City Chiefs in Las Vegas, the pair passionately kissed on the field.

On February 12, Taylor playfully shared videos of Travis on social media, jokingly noting that they took his parents out clubbing following the Super Bowl event.

Taylor’s initial Instagram post with Travis displayed a selfie taken backstage at Wembley Stadium during her Eras tour in London, which included not only them but also Prince William and Kate Middleton’s eldest children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, with the royal family.

During the seventh Eras tour concert at London’s Wembley Stadium, the NFL player made an appearance on stage alongside his girlfriend, acting as a supporting artist while she performed “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart”.

Taylor attended the initial game of the 2024-25 season for the Chiefs alongside Travis. This photograph posted by Chariah Gordon showcases a scene reminiscent of a public display of affection (PDA) between them, similar to an incident that occurred in October 2023. Mecole Hardman, the Chiefs’ wide receiver, is also seen in this image with his girlfriend, Chariah Gordon.

The duo were present at the nuptials of Karen Elson, who married Lee Foster, the proprietor of Electric Lady Studios, in the city of New York.

The next day, the pair attended the men’s singles final match at the U.S. Open.

The two stepped out for a double dinner date with Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds in NYC.

Over the New Year’s weekend in 2024, they ventured out together for consecutive evenings in NYC, sporting coordinated attire on each occasion.

During the NFL’s off-season break, they holidayed in a snowy Montana alongside popular sports broadcaster Erin Andrews.

In July 2025, Travis shared the first pictures featuring Taylor on Instagram, among which was a charming snapshot of them dining together – a sneaky peek that hinted at their screensavers set as each other’s phone wallpapers.

On August 13, Taylor – an avid admirer known as “New Heights” fan – appeared on Travis and Jason’s podcast for the first time in an extended episode of approximately two hours. She openly discussed the highs and lows of her life with them, both within and beyond the public eye. Moreover, during the conversation, Taylor unveiled her forthcoming 12th studio album titled “The Life of a Showgirl,” scheduled for release on October 3.

Over two years since Travis made his famous podcast mention that echoed throughout various circles, Travis and Taylor have announced their engagement. In a playful nod to her song “So High School,” they humorously captioned the Instagram post displaying their engagement photos on August 26th: “Your high school teacher and your physical education instructor are tying the knot.
