Acclaimed Horror Game Gets Surprising New Remaster

A well-known horror video game from the past is set to receive an unexpected upgrade in late 2025. The horror gaming genre has been seeing a surge of interest for remakes and upgrades over the last few years. Electronic Arts (EA) resurrected the original “Dead Space,” Konami collaborated with Bloober Team to reimagine “Silent Hill 2,” and Capcom revitalized one of its most renowned games ever, “Resident Evil 4,” in 2023. Now, this trend continues as publisher Bandai Namco plans to remaster a horror game that eventually grew into a much bigger series.

This October, Bandai Namco will debut an updated version called the “Enhanced Edition” of the game “Little Nightmares,” originally released in 2017. The collaboration between Bandai Namco and developer Tarsier Studios on “Little Nightmares” was a success that initially took people by surprise. Although it didn’t immediately capture everyone’s attention upon its release, favorable reviews of the game persisted over time, leading to the development of “Little Nightmares 2” in 2021 and “Little Nightmares 3,” which is set to come out later this year.

Currently, in harmony with the upcoming release of “Little Nightmares 3”, Bandai Namco has chosen to revisit the original game for additional enhancements. Dubbed as “Little Nightmares: Enhanced Edition”, this improved version will launch simultaneously with “Little Nightmares 3” on October 10th, and it’s scheduled for release on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, the forthcoming Nintendo Switch 2, and PC platforms.

Experience once again the enchanting yet eerie storyline of “Little Nightmares,” now boasting a breathtaking 4K resolution and smooth 60 frames per second gameplay. The upgraded “Little Nightmares: Enhanced Edition” offers you the flexibility to select between Quality or Performance Mode, tailoring the visuals or frame rate to your personal tastes. Delight in enhanced graphical effects such as RTX reflections, advanced water effects, an increase in particles, and superior volumetric lighting. Furthermore, additional features have been incorporated for a more enjoyable gaming experience.

One advantage of the “Little Nightmares: Enhanced Edition” is that players can start enjoying it immediately if they’re willing to make a purchase in advance. Instead of having to wait until October, Bandai Namco offers early access to this remastered version of “Little Nightmares” for those who pre-order “Little Nightmares 3” digitally. Although the standalone version won’t be available until later, if you’re planning to get “Little Nightmares 3” soon, it would be beneficial to pre-order now and experience the improved version of the first game, serving as a bridge for those anticipating the sequel.
