But not everyone’s having a great first weekend with the game.
Several gamers have voiced concerns that the map screen during gameplay on their PlayStation 5 systems is leading to overheating issues.
A fairly active Reddit post reports the issue:
As a dedicated gamer on my PlayStation 5, I must say the game runs flawlessly most of the time – the visuals are jaw-droppingly beautiful and there haven’t been any glitches during regular gameplay. However, an odd issue arises when I pause the game and the map screen appears. Suddenly, the fan revs up at maximum speed, and an overheat warning flashes on my screen. It’s peculiar because the rest of the console operates smoothly, even during extended gaming sessions. But the instant I start plotting a strategy using the map, the fan kicks into high gear, and I receive an overheating alert. I recently gave my console a thorough cleaning, and it’s positioned in an open area for optimal airflow, yet this problem persists.
Just recently, a fresh update rolled out, but it seems like it didn’t quite fix the issue I’ve been encountering. Strangely enough, I’m not the only one who’s experiencing this predicament, judging from the online chatter.
One player lamented, “I’m dealing with the very same issue. I have the digital version of the PS5 original game, and it’s only during the map menu that fans become loud.
As a fellow enthusiast, it seems the trouble you’re encountering appears to be specific to the standard PlayStation 5 model, while the Pro version seems more resilient. It’s worth noting that we’ve been experiencing unusually hot weather in various regions of Europe and America lately, so this could potentially play a role too.
It’s plausible that we’re dealing with a memory leak or another problem in this case. The menu seems to operate without a fixed frame rate, which might be responsible for revving up the fans excessively and leading to the console heating up too much.
It’s been proposed that we submit an extensive bug report to Kojima Productions for their review, as this will provide them with additional details to address the issue swiftly. This approach seems sensible to me too.
Are you encountering any difficulties while playing the game? Or is it also heating up for you? Feel free to share your experiences and cool off a bit in the comment section.
