Halo Dethroned as Xbox Game With the Highest Gamerscore

Ever since Gamescore was first introduced as a means of tracking achievements on Xbox 360, it’s primarily been popular as a tool to show off bragging rights among gamers. Essentially, it served as an unbiased system for comparing your gaming prowess with that of your peers and online friends. However, concerns about its authenticity have arisen over time due to some games offering easy achievements, glitches in certain games that make achievements impossible to obtain, and changes in the rules governing Xbox achievements. Recently, a game has broken a long-standing Gamerscore record, surpassing the previous leader, Halo: The Master Chief Collection.

Due to its latest accomplishments in the expansion pack known as “Feast of Shadows,” The Elder Scrolls Online has surpassed a previous record by offering the highest Xbox Gamescore ever awarded by a single game, with a total of 130 Gamerscore from two new DLC achievements. This brings the new maximum score for ESO up to an impressive 7,050, only 50 points more than Halo: MCC, which held the title for years. Given that Halo: MCC consists of numerous games, it’s no surprise that an MMO like The Elder Scrolls Online managed to break this long-standing record.

Elder Scrolls Online’s New DLC Achievements

The latest expansion for ESO now offers a total of 179 achievements, accumulating 7,050 Gamerscore points. This yields a more favorable ratio compared to Halo: MCC, where players need to accomplish 400 achievements to amass 7,000 Gamerscore. However, it’s important to note that while ESO may have achievements requiring more effort, Halo provides a significant number of achievements by simply completing the campaigns and playing multiplayer modes.

Some dedicated players who are focused on accumulating Gamerscore might not find the extra ESO achievements particularly appealing due to the MMO’s inherent demand for substantial time investment to obtain additional DLC achievements. To earn both sets of achievements, a player must conquer the Naj-Caldeesh and Black Gem Foundry dungeons on normal as well as veteran difficulty levels, which is no walk in the park.

As players eagerly anticipate the release of “The Elder Scrolls 6”, they can take comfort in the fact that there will undoubtedly be ongoing support for “The Elder Scrolls Online”. In the past, it has been common for expansions like these to offer two new achievements for players to collect. This pattern suggests that “ESO” could potentially maintain its record for the longest-running collection or MMO, until a future game of similar scale is released. It’s hard to predict what that might be, but possibilities include “Grand Theft Auto 6” and an updated version of “GTA Online”, which also receives consistent updates, or perhaps Bethesda’s own release of “Elder Scrolls 6”. Fingers crossed!

In summary, despite ESO pushing the boundaries of a single Xbox game by challenging an existing barrier, it doesn’t pose a threat to the integrity of the Gamerscore system. The achievements within ESO still demand effort and adhere to the current 200 Gamerscore per achievement limit set by Xbox. Additionally, Xbox allows for up to 1000 gamerscore additions every six months, which ESO has not surpassed significantly. It’s also challenging for another game to mimic ESO’s accomplishment due to the need for years of continuous content updates.
