As the release date of “Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc” draws nearer, there’s been an increasing flow of updates about the film. MAPPA Studio has unveiled and offered sneak peeks into the opening and ending themes for the movie, with Kenshi Yonezu and Hikaru Utada handling the performances. Now, MAPPA Studio has declared that “HAWATARI NIOKU CENTI (2-hundred-million-centimeter-long blades)” will be a featured song in the Chainsaw Man movie. This tune was previously used as the ending of the third episode of the Chainsaw Man anime, performed by Japanese metal band Maximum the Hormone. Interestingly, the band has confirmed that the version heard in the anime was a 90-second edited rendition.
The musician from Maximum the Ryokun band disclosed a statement concerning their team’s association with the Chainsaw Man series. Ryokun explained that the anime adaptation of their song “HAWATARI NIOKU CENTI” was an edited version, as the second verse alluded to the character Reze who hadn’t been introduced in the anime at that point. For future screenings, the fuller version of the song titled “HAWATARI NIOKU CENTI (Estimated 70% Unlocked Edit)” will be used. Furthermore, MAPPA revealed that Japanese moviegoers would receive a unique booklet containing cover art by manga creator Tatsuki Fujimoto as an added bonus.

Maximum the Hormone, a metal band that formed in 1997, has made significant strides in the music industry, particularly in the realm of anime. They are well-known for providing the second opening and closing themes for the popular anime series, “Death Note.” In 2008, they released a song titled “F,” also spelled as “[F].” This song was inspired by the villain Frieza from “Dragon Ball Z” and played a significant role in inspiring the film, “Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F.’” The tune was actually featured in the movie during scenes depicting Frieza’s resurrection and one of the intense battles.

Kenshi Yonezu, who sang the theme song “Kick Back” for the initial season of the anime series Chainsaw Man, is returning to the franchise to perform the opening theme for the Reze Arc film titled “IRIS OUT.” Previously, Yonezu also sang the opening themes for the popular 2025 anime series Medalist and Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX. For the ending of Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc, musical sensation Hikaru Utada, known for her theme song contributions to every major Kingdom Hearts title, will be singing “Jane Doe.” This will mark Utada’s first work in an anime since she performed “One Last Kiss” for Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time in 2021.
The “Chainsaw Man” movie is slated to debut in Japanese cinemas on September 19th, and it will subsequently be released globally throughout autumn, with its U.S. premiere planned for October 29th. Sony Pictures and Crunchyroll will aid in distributing the film internationally. The movie serves as a follow-up to the initial season of the anime, centering on the Reze/Bomb Girl storyline from the manga. In this story arc, Denji encounters a new enigmatic girl who captures his heart, all while battling a fresh and dangerous devil.
