Why Channing Tatum Says He’ll Never Be Cool to His Daughter Everly

Channing Tatum’s daughter Everly Tatum is unimpressed.

Speaking about his career with his 12-year-old daughter, whom he shares with ex-wife Jenna Dewan, the actor from Magic Mike acknowledged that regardless of how many of his films she watches, he can never fully captivate her.

According to Channing, he shared with Francesca Amiker from TopMob News during the premiere of his latest film “Roofman” at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival, that his daughter has already seen many [movies/films], but she nonchalantly expressed disinterest when he mentioned it. In other words, she’s pretending not to care about them.

He added, “I’m never gonna be cool to her.”

Although Everly might not openly express her delight at watching her father’s performances on the big screen, it’s been confirmed that she has indeed stopped by the set of “Roofman”. Channing clarified that although she hasn’t seen his portrayal of real-life character Jeffrey Manchester just yet, she definitely intends to catch the movie.

The 45-year-old drew a connection with the character who was infamous for robbing fast food chains from their rooftops by empathizing with the sense of solitude he believed Jeffrey might have experienced following his prison escape, during which he hid undetected in a toy store for six months.

In an interview with TopMob, Channing shared that throughout the entire movie, he’s present in every single shot but has limited interaction with others. Consequently, much of the film finds him alone, without his co-stars around. However, there are instances when they join in, and those moments feel particularly special for him as it means he gets to share scenes with them instead of feeling isolated.

He went on to suggest that his character likely felt something similar,” he explained. “The sense of solitude was overwhelming for him, almost like being locked up. In a way, he created another prison for himself inside a toy store, yet he was making the most out of what little resources he had.

The actor not only admitted feeling isolated but also shared that his mental health was adversely affected when he dramatically shed a significant amount of weight prior to the movie.

He previously mentioned to Variety that his goal was to reach 185 pounds. However, during the shoot, he found himself losing weight unexpectedly and ended up at around 172 pounds.

However, it wasn’t until assistant director Mariela Comitini expressed her worries on set that the lead actor of Blink Twice experienced a sudden realization.

He added, “I found myself agreeing with you, this situation felt peculiar. There was a sense of vacancy and sorrow to it. I looked in the mirror, and I felt as if I were a hollow figure. For me, the film explored loneliness profoundly, offering an introspective journey about the yearning to be complete and striving to fill an empty heart.

He added, “That empty feelings sucks after a little while.”
