7 Missing MCU Characters We Probably Won’t See For Years

The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) started small with the debut of Iron Man in 2008, but it has significantly expanded over the years, incorporating a wide range of Marvel characters. Transforming the gigantic Marvel Comics universe into live-action continuity is a huge task that required several years and multiple diverse projects to achieve its current level of popularity. Despite the MCU’s impressive growth, it continues to expand with each new release, introducing or hinting at new Marvel characters for upcoming projects. However, not every tease about upcoming Marvel movies and TV shows has met fan expectations thus far.

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), certain characters are introduced and developed, only to be sidelined or absent for a significant period. This trend is particularly noticeable in the post-credits scenes of MCU films, where new characters are frequently introduced as hints for future storylines. However, some characters that were initially established in the MCU may not reappear for quite some time, implying that many beloved MCU characters might be absent from the screen for years to come.

7) Blade

Following a brief appearance in the post-credits scene of Eternals in 2021, the Blade movie starring Mahershala Ali has faced numerous delays. Despite the exciting news of his casting as Marvel’s renowned vampire hunter, production on this MCU film has halted several times. The latest news suggests that the project is currently low on Marvel Studios’ list of priorities. Although fans were thrilled with the choice of Ali, it looks like we’ll have to wait a while longer for his character to make his official debut.

6) Betty Ross

Since making an appearance in “The Incredible Hulk” in 2008, Liv Tyler’s Betty Ross has seemingly been overlooked in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Her much-anticipated reappearance came in “Captain America: Brave New World,” albeit briefly. Despite her character, Betty Ross, being confirmed as still active within the MCU, no official announcements or hints about her return have been made. Although there are numerous interesting storylines that could be developed for this character, it appears that fans may have to wait a few more years before she makes another appearance.

5) Black Knight

The post-credits scene of the movie Eternals hinted at the comeback of the Black Knight, either in Eternals 2 or possibly in a solo series. In Eternals, Kit Harington from Game of Thrones portrayed Dane Whitman. The film’s conclusion suggested that Whitman will assume the role of the Black Knight within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, since there seem to be delays in making an Eternals sequel, it appears that the character has been put on hold for now, with no return confirmed as of yet.

4) Eros

The film “Eternals” established several potential storylines for future Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) installments, but none have been realized thus far. In the post-credits scene of the 2021 movie, Eros, portrayed by Harry Styles, was introduced as a character. As the brother of Thanos and a powerful hero, his appearance generated a lot of buzz; however, he has yet to be confirmed for any future MCU projects. At this time, it’s uncertain when or if audiences will see Eros again, given that he doesn’t seem to play a significant role in the final phases of the MCU’s Multiverse Arc.

3) T’Challa II

Discussing the challenge of how the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) would handle the gap left by Chadwick Boseman’s death was a complex matter. The ending of “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” introduced T’Challa’s young son as a potential successor, but due to the MCU’s timeline, it seems unlikely that we’ll see him again in the role of Black Panther anytime soon. Without fast-forwarding the storyline significantly, the franchise will need to wait a few years at least before reintroducing the character as the new Black Panther. Therefore, audiences may not get to see T’Challa II for some time.

2) Moon Knight

Moon Knight’s introduction into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) now carries a mixed flavor, as the compelling portrayal of the character has been eclipsed by uncertainty about his future. While the Moon Knight TV series was generally well-received, it appears that Oscar Isaac’s iteration of the hero may not reappear in the MCU anytime soon. Indications suggest that Disney is not currently planning a second season for Moon Knight, and it seems unlikely that Oscar Isaac will resume the role before the conclusion of the Multiverse Saga.

1) Hercules

The post-credit scene for “Thor: Love and Thunder” introduced Hercules as a potential rival to Thor within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Despite being one of the strongest new characters since “Avengers: Endgame,” it appears that we won’t see Hercules in the MCU again anytime soon. So far, there are no formal announcements regarding follow-up projects for “Love and Thunder,” and actor Brett Goldstein has not hinted at reprising his role. As an intriguing new addition to the franchise, fans will have to be patient before witnessing Hercules’ return.
