In simpler terms, fans are thrilled to learn that Keanu Reeves may reprise his role as Johnny Silverhand in Cyberpunk 2. This character, reminiscent of Tyler Durden from Fight Club but with a punk rock twist, became one of the standout personalities in gaming over the past decade within Night City. Players were captivated not only by his distinctive appearance and attitude, but also because he was portrayed by the highly recognizable movie star, Keanu Reeves. This wasn’t a brief cameo appearance; rather, it was a substantial role that spanned the entire game, including side quests and additional content (DLC).
Essentially, his story wraps up in the game Cyberpunk 2077. Given that he exists only as a digital entity within V’s head through some technology, there’s always a possibility for him to reappear if the game creators decide to bring Silverhand back. As for Cyberpunk 2, we know little more than it’s set in a city akin to a failed Chicago and that it might take several years before we learn more about its plot.
Keanu Reeves Wants to Return for Cyberpunk Sequel
In a conversation with IGN, Keanu Reeves was inquired about potentially reprising his role as Johnny Silverhand in the upcoming Cyberpunk game. Excited by the prospect, he expressed his desire to return: “Definitely, I’d be thrilled to play Johnny Silverhand once more.” While actors rarely decline opportunities, projects like video games require significant time investments, and Reeves has already explored Johnny’s storyline extensively. Consequently, he is under no compulsion to continue if he feels it’s not suitable for him.
It’s quite probable that we won’t find out the details of Cyberpunk 2 for a number of years. As for Keanu Reeves reprising his role as Silverhand, it’s unlikely we’ll have confirmation until closer to the game’s release. In the meantime, CD Projekt Red has their hands full with The Witcher 4 set to be their next major game release. There are rumors of a DLC for Cyberpunk 2077 featuring Silverhand, but specifics about this project are scarce. What we do know is that developers have listed an unreleased DLC for the game on their resumes, suggesting some sort of development is underway.
