Mon dieu, this is a traveler’s worst nightmare.
Social media influencer Brittney Dzialo and her companion accidentally ended up on a plane bound for Tunis, the capital of Tunisia, due to an airline employee misunderstanding their request for a flight to Nice, a French city often referred to as “Nicee”.
It wasn’t until Brittney engaged in conversation with another traveler that she discovered her mistake – they were actually headed to Tunis, not Nice.
In the video shared on September 7th, Brittney communicated to the flight attendant that their intended destination was actually Nice, France, not the current one.
Nevertheless, the cabin crew informed Brittany that it was now past the point of disembarking, for her carry-on items were fine but her checked luggage had already been placed in the cargo hold. In essence, she was obligated to stay on board and resolve her travel arrangements upon landing at the new location.
“We’re going to have to change in Tunis,” Brittney told the camera. “We’re going to Africa.”
Upon touching down in Tunisia, I found myself embroiled in a bit of confusion when sorting out an oversight with the airport staff. The mix-up stemmed from a linguistic pitfall – “Nice” and Tunis sound remarkably alike – which made it challenging to express our predicament clearly.
She mentioned in another social media post that they’re requiring us to purchase a new ticket since we won’t be able to board the next flight tonight. Apparently, everyone there has been unfriendly about it.
As reported by Brittney, it took several hours for a third employee from the airline to locate an evening departure flight from Tunisia. In their desperation, they even asked the pilot to delay the aircraft as they made their way to the gate.
On September 8th, Brittney announced that she had reached her first planned stop for her European trip. She posted a picture with a friend standing by a fountain and captioned it, “Nice, France.” (Informal)

9th September found me absolutely thrilled as my beloved Brittney at last posted about reaching her long-awaited European tour spot! She gleefully captioned a snapshot of her friend striking a pose by a French fountain: “Nice, France – finally!
