Strictly Come Dancing 2025 star Thomas Skinner breaks silence on press event walkout “to set the record straight”

Previously known “Apprentice” contestant Thomas Skinner issued a statement following his early departure from a Strictly Come Dancing media gathering, prior to his appearance in the upcoming series.

At Elstree Studios’ event, Skinner was present, conducting interviews with the other actors. However, he departed before the session concluded.

Skinner, being part of the cast at Elstree Studios’ event, participated in interviews along with his fellow actors. He chose to leave though, prior to the session wrapping up.

In a conversation with X, he clarified his reason for leaving the room earlier, putting it this way: “Let me clear up any confusion from yesterday right away.

During an interview, a journalist set their phone to record our conversation, unknowingly displaying several private messages on the screen. I briefly noticed these messages, which were not related to Strictly, but rather a personal tale from my past. I’ve made significant efforts to leave behind challenging periods in my life.

At that instant, spotting it left me taken aback. It seemed appropriate to distance myself and regain my composure. This situation wasn’t connected to the interviews or Strictly in any way.

He expressed regret for his actions, noting: “I’m apologetic for accidentally picking up someone else’s phone, and I’m unsure if the journalist noticed their messages being exposed. I don’t intend to imply any malicious intent on their part.

He expressed: “I’m thrilled to announce my participation in Strictly this year! I’m deeply appreciative of the affection, kindness, and backing I’ve received thus far. It truly touches my heart, and I can hardly wait to put forth my best efforts on the dancefloor!

He signed off with his catchphrase: “Bosh.”

It was previously suggested by some media outlets that Skinner could leave Strictly after his walkout, but recent reports from various sources indicate that he won’t be leaving the competition.

Critics have taken issue with some of Skinner’s social media content, such as the picture he posted alongside the U.S. Vice President JD Vance during the summer months.

He addressed the accusations in August, stating to The Daily Mail: “I’m not a right-wing supporter. People began labeling me as such merely because I attended a BBQ with JD Vance and posted a photo with him. Who would refuse an opportunity to meet one of the most influential figures worldwide?

Starting later this month, Strictly Come Dancing’s new season is all set to hit your screens. Unlike previous years, viewers won’t have the option to vote using premium-rate phone numbers. Instead, fans of the show can now exclusively cast their votes online.

In addition to Skinner, other competitors expected to appear are Dani Dyer, Alex Kingston, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, and Stefan Dennis.

Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One and iPlayer on Saturday 20th September.
