7 Great Pal Designs in Palworld That Aren’t Pokemon Ripoffs

Upon the introduction of Palworld, comparisons to Pokémon were swift and inevitable. Often referred to as “Pokémon with guns,” it’s easy to understand why such a comparison arises. Many of the Pal designs in Palworld share striking similarities with particular Pokémon. For instance, Lifmunk resembles Leafon quite closely, while Anubis seems like Lucario’s long-lost twin. However, it’s important to note that not every Pal is a blatant copy of a Pokémon. In fact, there are numerous beloved characters that stand out as unique and entertaining monster designs.

In the game Palworld, the PalDeck is approaching a count of 200 unique Pals, which encompasses both base versions and additional ones introduced through free updates. Notably, numerous top-tier designs originated from early creatures in the game that have gained popularity among fans. Despite some resemblances with Pokemon due to their animal-inspired bases, it’s important to remember that many Pokemon are modeled after real-world animals as well. Yet, these Pal designs stand out by offering more than just simple copies of Pokemon.

7. Caprity

This oversized creature resembling a mix between a bush and a goat is just as endearing as it is gigantic. This unique creation showcases an array of charming animals, featuring floppy rabbit ears and large goat-like horns. Moreover, its sturdy, bulky build evokes the image of a giant corgi. The enormous bush on its back enhances the whimsical and bizarre charm that clearly identifies it as a Pal design.

1) Caprity is an excellent companion to have at your base, which contributes to its widespread appeal. Although it may share some resemblances with Skiddo/Gogoat, these similarities are not striking enough to give the impression of being a cheap imitation where only minor alterations have been made.

6. Ragnahawk

One aspect about me is my affinity towards bird-themed designs in creature collectors; I simply love it when they join my team! Ragnahawk, with its impressive bird-of-prey Pal design, really catches my eye. Its fiery color scheme, combined with subtle dark accents, makes it stand out. Interestingly, Ragnahawk also serves as a capable flying mount, enhancing the cool factor since you can fly around using it as your ride!

Honestly speaking, there’s a striking resemblance between those claws and Corviknight’s, and the idea of a fire-type avian creature reminds me of Talonflame. Nevertheless, Ragnahawk’s design is entirely unique, exuding an air of greater menace and sleekness that makes you yearn to capture it every time you see it.

5. Katress

Katress, a character from Palworld, demonstrates that bipedal designs in creature collectors don’t need to be uncomfortable. With a design that combines elements of cats, rabbits, and witches, it’s a unique concept I appreciate. Many others feel the same way, as Katress is quite popular due to its enchanting and magical aesthetic. Depending on the context, it can appear both intimidating and endearingly cute.

As a gamer, I can’t help but notice a hint of Mismagius-like charm in Katress – it’s mostly due to her witch hat and the enchanting purple hue she dons, which are classic symbols of magic and witches. Yet, Katress stands out as a unique Pal design with her own distinct identity.

4. Quivern

The latest addition to the Pal design family is a flying mount resembling a large, adorable dragon-like Pokémon. With its fluffy white fur and round, friendly face, this Pal exudes a warm and somewhat comical demeanor. Despite its size, it seems more inclined to smother you in affection than pose a threat – at least that’s the initial impression. However, within the game, this Pokémon can display aggressive behavior until it is captured and domesticated.

Quivern boasts large, feathery wings and antennae that are somewhat disproportionate to its body, yet in a charming manner. Unlike many Pals, Quivern doesn’t immediately conjure up images of Pokemon designs, but it does share Dragonite’s quirky aspect in its facial features. However, when considering unique Pal designs, PocketPair really outdid themselves with this one.

3. Depresso

Hey there! Depresso is quite the icon, you know? It shares some similarities with certain Pokemon like Espurr and Meowstic, but what really sets it apart is the unique personality PocketPair gave it. The way it keeps going through work while its expression shows zero excitement? Pure gold!

In the vibrant world of Palworld, there’s a unique creature named Depresso that stands out among the rest due to its captivating design. The somber expression, whether it’s engaged in activity or at rest, lends an air of melancholy that resonates deeply with me. Despite, or perhaps because of, its sad vibes, Depresso has become one of my dearest Pals, and I find myself sharing this affection with many others.

2. Splatterina

This particular character in Palworld, sporting a dark aesthetic, stands out among its designs as it bears little initial resemblance to any known Pokemon. Splatterina is a fresh inclusion on our list, introduced with the Feybreak update. She’s an incredibly intimidating gothic ballerina who appears poised for battle against any adversary. The sharp, angular features of her hair and attire add an extra edge to her design, making her both stylishly cool and terrifyingly scary simultaneously.

In simpler terms, Splatterina’s entry on the database (Palpedia) enhances the eerie backstory reminiscent of the scariest Pokédex entries. This creature is said to have an overwhelming compulsion to dismember its prey with each species exhibiting a unique method for doing so. Definitely, Splatterina’s design is both visually intimidating and intriguing in terms of the narrative it presents.

1. Tarantriss

This pal offers the ability to move around like Spider-Man, which is certainly one reason for its inclusion on our list. However, there are other factors involved as well. In terms of enjoyable mounts, the web-slinging feature was indeed an important aspect in the overall design process. But beyond its functionality, Tarantriss stands out visually with her spider-like lower body and fluffy head featuring moth-like antennae. She’s both endearing and somewhat eerie to behold, which adds to her appeal. With her impressive web-swinging moves, Tarantriss ranks high as an exceptional Pal design.

In the latest Feybreak update, similar to Splatterina, Tarantriss was introduced, and it appears that PocketPair has embraced more imaginative styles with these new additions. While there have been several spider-like Pokémon before, Tarantriss doesn’t initially resemble a copy of any of them. Its unique blend of humanoid and insect elements gives it an original design, offering players an appealing visual spectacle and enjoyable interaction within the game.
