Star Wars’ Next TV Show Brings Back Ahsoka Tano With Her Original Actress

I’m thrilled to share that Ahsoka Tano is set to reappear in the upcoming Star Wars TV series. This iconic character has undeniably secured a special place in the hearts of many Star Wars enthusiasts, evolving from her somewhat controversial introduction in the movie “Star Wars: The Clone Wars,” into a fan-favorite. Her journey took a significant turn with her own series, titled “Ahsoka,” slated for 2023, following her appearances in “The Mandalorian” Season 2. Since then, we haven’t seen her on screen, but we’ll catch another glimpse of her later this month as we eagerly await Season 2 of “Ahsoka.” However, it won’t be Rosario Dawson portraying her this time around.

In the upcoming “LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy: Pieces of the Past”, Ahsoka will make her next appearance. This is her first animated return since 2022’s “Tales of the Jedi”. Though her complete story remains a mystery, some intriguing details have been disclosed. Instead of the standard LEGO minifigure, she’ll be represented in BrickHeadz style, and the role will once again be lent voice by Ashley Eckstein. Eckstein has voiced Ahsoka since the “The Clone Wars” movie, a role she has continued to perform in animated works even after Dawson assumed the live-action role. It’s only fitting that she returns to her role.

Ashley Eckstein Is A Huge Part Of Ahsoka’s Legacy

In the live-action series, it’s not Ashley Eckstein who portrays Ahsoka, but rather Dawson was chosen by Lucasfilm. However, this doesn’t lessen Eckstein’s impact on the character or the Star Wars universe as a whole. Both actresses are outstanding in their respective roles and possess unique qualities. Yet, because Eckstein was the original voice actress for Ahsoka, she significantly shaped the character through her speech inflections, physical mannerisms, and line deliveries. This makes it seem as though, in many aspects, Ahsoka is synonymous with Eckstein, and her presence is still palpable in the more mature, stoic live-action version of the character.

Ashley Eckstein wonderfully embodied the essence and soul of Ahsoka, significantly contributing to the widespread adoration of this character among Star Wars fans. Many of the most memorable Ahsoka scenes in the series are thanks to Eckstein’s portrayal (while not diminishing Dawson’s work, but it’s worth noting that The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels have her most captivating arcs). Before Dawson was cast, Eckstein even gave voice to Ahsoka in live-action, appearing in The Rise of Skywalker. Therefore, Rebuild the Galaxy: Pieces of the Past, although not canon, is significant because it allows Eckstein to continue portraying the character, enriching her already exceptional legacy – a development that deserves recognition.

What The Future Looks Like For Ahsoka Tano

In simpler terms, after LEGO, Ahsoka Tano has a promising future in the Star Wars universe, particularly in live-action rather than animation. The second season of her show is currently being made and will be available on Disney+ next year. There’s plenty of material to explore further as Ahsoka, along with Sabine Wren, are still somewhere in another galaxy. Additionally, Grand Admiral Thrawn has resurfaced, Baylan Skoll appears to be pursuing a quest involving the Mortis Gods, and Hayden Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker is set to make another appearance.

There’s a strong possibility that Ahsoka could reappear on the big screen in 2023, as there are plans for a movie set during the New Republic era which will serve as a climax to the stories unfolding in “The Mandalorian” and “Ahsoka”. The most popular theory is that this film could be a modern adaptation of the popular “Heir to the Empire” Legends story, where various heroes unite against Thrawn. Given that Ahsoka plays a significant role in this story, it’s likely she would feature prominently if this plan comes to life.

It’s highly possible that there will be additional animated appearances for the character, although nothing is officially confirmed yet. Historically, Star Wars animation has often featured Ahsoka Tano frequently, and given Dave Filoni’s affection for the character and her popularity within the franchise, it seems likely that she may show up in future projects as well. The actress who voices Ahsoka, Ashley Eckstein, has played the role every year from 2008 to 2020 and reprised the role in 2022 and 2025, suggesting a continued involvement with the character.

The Lego Star Wars series titled “Rebuild the Galaxy: Pieces of the Past” will be available for streaming on Disney+ starting September 19, 2025. As for Season 2 of Ahsoka, although a release date hasn’t been confirmed yet, it is anticipated to premiere in the year 2026.
