Given the immense popularity of the Nintendo Switch among its home audience in Japan, it’s no surprise that the PlayStation 5 version of Sony’s iconic series Everybody’s Golf faces a tough challenge to surpass its performance.
With the current physical sales data at hand, it is evident that the latest release of Everybody’s Golf: Hot Shots has experienced the highest sales on Nintendo’s gaming console, commonly known as the Mario Maker.
Famitsu pegs the first week numbers at 35,139 units on Switch and 16,075 units on PS5.
In contrast to the initial PS4 release, which sold more than 100,000 physical copies within its first week, the most recent one has seen a significant decline in sales. It’s important to consider that digital sales now represent a far greater portion of the market compared to when the original game launched in 2017. Additionally, it’s worth mentioning that this latest version wasn’t developed by series veteran Clap-Hanz.
Actually, for this version, there’s no Sony participation since they have granted the franchise rights to Bandai Namco. In fact, Sony has been delegating such responsibilities more frequently these days. Similarly, Freedom Wars and Patapon were also recently assigned to Bandai Namco, even though Sony still holds the intellectual property rights for both games.
frankly speaking, we’re not particularly impressed with the latest version of Everybody’s Golf. Despite its resemblance to the original games in terms of appearance and sound, a number of bugs and questionable gameplay choices have made it one of the least appealing entries in the franchise so far.
It’s quite surprising, in fact, that Clap-Hanz’s latest game, Easy Come Easy Golf, isn’t playable on PlayStation systems at the moment. On the other hand, it recently introduced a 60fps mode that performs wonderfully on the Nintendo Switch 2.
