That’s a wrap on the 2025 Emmys.
The biggest winner at the awards on September 14th was Apple TV+’s *The Studio*, taking home 13 wins, including an award for Seth Rogen as Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. *The Penguin* followed with nine wins, and both *Severance* and *Adolescence* each won eight. Notably, Owen Cooper from *Adolescence* made history as the youngest winner in his category and the youngest male Emmy Award winner ever, at just 15 years old.
But, like always, there are the usual perceived snubs and surprises among the list of winners.
Unexpected wins delighted many, with Jeff Hiller from *Somebody Somewhere* taking home the award for Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series, and Katherine LaNasa from *The Pitt* winning for Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.
Jeff, visibly surprised to win-especially considering he was up against Harrison Ford, Ike Barinholtz, Colman Domingo, and Bowen Yang-shared a heartfelt moment during his acceptance speech. He explained that for 25 years he’d dreamed of being an actor, but it often felt like the world saw him as someone better suited for computers.
He jokingly thanked HBO for airing a show about out-of-shape middle-aged people alongside the popular teen drama, *Euphoria*.
The biggest surprises of the night were Cristin Milioti, from *The Penguin*, winning over Cate Blanchette, Meghann Fahy, Rashida Jones, and Michelle Williams, and Stephen Graham from *Adolescence*, who beat out Colin Farrell, Jake Gyllenhaal, Bryan Tyree Henry, and Cooper Koch.
As a lifestyle expert, I have to say everyone was predicting Kathy Bates from *Matlock* would take home the Lead Actress in a Drama Series award – she was the frontrunner! But in a surprising turn of events, Britt Lower from *Severance* absolutely blew everyone away and won for her incredible performance playing both Helly R. and Helena Eagan. It was a truly impressive win!
Okay, seriously?! *Severance* deserved EVERYTHING! It led the nominations with TWENTY-SEVEN, which was amazing, but then it only won TWO Emmys? TWO?! I was so happy for Britt, of course, and Tramell Tillman absolutely KILLED it as Milchick and deserved all the praise, but still… it felt like a total snub. I mean, they *did* win six at the Creative Arts Emmys, which is great, but this was just… frustrating. It’s a masterpiece, and it didn’t get the recognition it deserved! I’m still reeling!
Interestingly, despite receiving a combined 36 nominations this year, both *The White Lotus* and *The Bear* didn’t win any awards. This is surprising considering their previous success at the Emmys.
Surprisingly, *The Pitt* was the big winner of the night, taking home five awards. Along with Katherine’s win, the medical show also won for Outstanding Drama Series and recognized Noah Wyle for his performance as Dr. Michael Robinavitch.
As expected, the former *ER* star dedicated a portion of his speech to recognizing healthcare workers. “To everyone working tonight, whether you’re starting your shift or finishing one, thank you for all you do,” Noah said. “This moment is for you.”
