The season 3 finale of The Summer I Turned Pretty left many viewers believing the love story between Belly, played by Lola Tung, and Conrad, played by Christopher Briney, was over.
During a party celebrating the end of the show, Amazon Prime Video announced that the story isn’t over yet – they’re planning to continue it with a movie.
Speaking from Paris, the location where much of the show’s ending was filmed, Jenny Han, the author of the original books, announced that there’s still one more important part of Belly’s story to tell, and she believes a movie is the best way to do it justice.
I’m really thankful to Prime Video for believing in my creative direction and allowing me to share the conclusion of this story with everyone who’s been following it.
Those familiar with the books will know Belly ultimately marries Conrad. While the movie’s plot is currently a secret, with filming starting soon, it’s a good guess we’ll see the Cousins crew planning another wedding.

Readers of the books were hoping to see the wedding, but it wasn’t shown, suggesting it will be a major focus in the film.
There were also some unanswered plot points at the end of season 3 which could also be addressed.
Steven (Sean Kaufman) and Taylor (Rain Spencer) were building a strong relationship, but a potential move for Steven’s business to San Francisco threatened to change things. Although Taylor ultimately seemed willing to go with him, it remains to be seen if their relationship will continue to thrive. (We’re rooting for them!)
