The Challenge’s Davis Mallory Says He’s No Longer Gay

Davis Mallory is sharing an update on his journey.

The Challenge alum stated that he is no longer gay after recommitting to his Christian faith.

In a recent video posted to Instagram, 42-year-old Davis shared that he previously lived openly as a gay man for around 20 years, including appearing on the reality show *The Real World* where he came out as a gay Christian. He stated that about a year ago, he experienced a religious transformation that led him to leave that lifestyle.

Davis, who first appeared on TV and publicly came out on *The Real World: Denver* in 2007, told the audience he started having dreams that he believed were messages from God, urging him to change the way he was living.

He expressed his gratitude to God, explaining that he began receiving messages in his dreams about a spiritual struggle he was facing. He described having nightmares whenever he slipped back into sinful behavior. Specifically, he dreamt of his car being broken into and of giving away his possessions and sense of self, feeling as though he was losing control of his life.

He explained that the man was showing him powerful, dreamlike visions of how his own actions were negatively impacting his life.

Okay, so get this – I was reading about Davis, and apparently, a trip to Hawaii *completely* changed his life! Some guy just casually asked him if he’d been baptized, and it seriously made him think. It was like a total turning point! He ended up getting baptized himself, and honestly, it sparked this whole incredible spiritual journey for him. And the best part? It all inspired “Baptized,” which, of course, is now my *everything*! It’s just… amazing to know the story behind the song.

Davis shared his song with the congregation and spoke about his deepening faith, inviting others to share the experience with him. He later explained his decision in more detail on an Instagram Story posted on September 14th, though that story is no longer available.

He believes God showed him that living righteously and following God’s laws is the ideal path for humanity. He feels that sin goes against God’s plan and disrespects the way we were created. According to him, sin doesn’t just offend God, but also harms our own growth and character.

Davis has talked before about choosing to come out as gay on *The Real World*, and his subsequent work as an advocate for LGBTQ+ rights within the church.

After appearing on *The Real World*, I started researching what the Bible actually says about homosexuality. This was because I unexpectedly received over 40 invitations to speak about the topic at universities across the US. I even found myself debating religious leaders about biblical interpretations and whether someone could be both gay and Christian. I firmly believe they can.
