Although *Superman* and *Peacemaker* are separate stories, they both exist within the DC Universe, meaning there are links between them. Several characters from *Superman*’s world have already shown up in Season 2 of *Peacemaker*, including a glimpse of Superman himself. While he briefly appeared during a storyline change involving the Justice Gang, many viewers believe Superman will have a more significant part to play as the season ends. Recently, a viral photo of John Cena (who plays Peacemaker) with David Corenswet (the new Superman) in costume sparked rumors of a potential team-up. Cena is now revealing the story behind that picture.
In a recent interview with *GQ*, John Cena shared the story behind a photo he took with David Corenswet, who plays the new Superman. Cena explained that he knew filming on *Superman* was wrapping up and really wanted to meet Corenswet. He wanted to offer support, telling Corenswet that his performance was crucial – if Corenswet didn’t do well, it would reflect badly on the entire DC universe. Cena, having experienced a lot of media attention himself, offered his help and contact information, wanting to support Corenswet through the changes his role would bring.
Is There More to John Cena’s Peacemaker & Superman Photo Story?

It’s common for actors to be secretive about big projects, so fans are wondering if John Cena is keeping something quiet. A recent photo of Cena with David Corenswet fueled speculation, as Cena was wearing his costume from the last episodes of *Peacemaker*, suggesting they might have filmed scenes together. James Gunn intentionally didn’t share the final three episodes of *Peacemaker* Season 2 with reviewers because they’re packed with surprises. Seeing Corenswet appear in *Peacemaker* would be a huge development.
If we accept John Cena’s explanation as true, it all adds up. Both *Peacemaker* Season 2 and *Superman* were being filmed simultaneously last year, and James Gunn was heavily involved in both. It’s likely Gunn was dividing his time between the sets. Cena may have found out *Superman* was nearing completion while talking to Gunn and asked if he could visit the set to meet David Corenswet. Knowing what to expect for the relatively unknown Corenswet, it’s great that Cena took the time to offer him some helpful advice.
What’s fueling speculation that this wasn’t just a casual visit is that both actors were still in their costumes. If John Cena was simply offering encouragement to David Corenswet, why was he fully dressed as Peacemaker? The most likely explanation is that both Peacemaker and Superman were filming on the same day, and Cena quickly went to the Superman set before Corenswet finished. He probably didn’t have time to change or was just taking a short break from filming Peacemaker.
Some fans might find that explanation a little too simple, particularly since the second season of *Peacemaker* is directly connected to the story of *Superman*. With the show exploring dimensional tears and potential multiverse adventures in its final episodes, it feels like a situation Superman would definitely investigate. Considering he previously dealt with similar rifts created by Lex Luthor that nearly destroyed Earth, it’s unlikely he’d ignore a new one. There’s also a chance David Corenswet, who plays Superman, could make a cameo as an alternate version of the character within *Peacemaker*’s other dimension. If that dimension turns out to be the DC Universe’s version of Earth-X, it would be exciting to see Corenswet portray a very different take on Superman.
