Two New Nintendo Switch Exclusive RPGs Announced for 2026

Nintendo has revealed two new games that will be available exclusively on the Switch in 2026. Although not currently planned for the next-generation Nintendo console, both games will work on it thanks to backward compatibility. It might seem unusual, but several games are still being developed for the original Switch instead of the new one. Because of this compatibility feature, developers don’t have a strong reason to create separate versions for the new console unless it offers significant improvements to the gameplay.

The first game is called *Artis*, developed by Mas and published by Happinet. It’s currently available on PC, meaning the Nintendo Switch version won’t be a full exclusive. As of now, the only release timeframe announced is Spring 2026.

Artis

Artis is a turn-based RPG set in a post-apocalyptic future, drawing inspiration from classic retro games. It blends this with relaxing life-simulation elements. You play as Akane, exploring a world where artificial intelligence is just as common as people.

Players generally like the game *Artis*, according to reviews on Steam. Since launching on August 7th, it’s received 1,546 reviews, with 83% of users giving it a positive rating, earning it a “Very Positive” overall score on the platform.

Chrono Ark

Similar to *Artis*, *Chrono Ark* will be a Nintendo Switch exclusive. The deck-building roguelike RPG is currently available on PC, but will be coming to consoles for the first time on January 29, 2026, with this Switch release. It’s been playable on PC for the past year.

Developed by AI Fine and published by Playism, *Chrono Ark* is receiving positive feedback, much like *Artis*. It currently boasts a 93% approval rating and a “Very Positive” rating on Steam, based on over 2,300 user reviews. *Chrono Ark* is a roguelike RPG where you create a party of four heroes to save a fractured world from destruction, and it features deck-building mechanics.

If those games don’t appeal to you, Nintendo Switch owners have some other exciting news. A game originally released on Switch in 2019 is getting a new version for the Switch 2 this month, with added content. Plus, another Switch game is coming out this November, but it won’t be available on the Switch 2. Despite the recent launch of the Switch 2, the original Nintendo Switch is still a popular and important system.
