Players of the new game, *Borderlands 4*, are very disappointed that Gearbox Software has removed a popular feature. This feature was originally included in *Borderlands 2* and then reintroduced in both *Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel* and *Borderlands 3*. While Gearbox may add it back in a future update – and there are expected to be many – there’s currently no guarantee, leaving fans of the series upset.
Since its release earlier this month on Nintendo Switch 2, PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X, *Borderlands 4* has introduced several changes from *Borderlands 3*, including some significant gameplay adjustments. While some players are enjoying these changes, others aren’t so pleased. One decision that’s particularly unpopular is the removal of slot machines – a move many fans feel was a mistake.
“I Miss Them So Much”
A popular post on the Borderlands Reddit page expresses disappointment that Gearbox removed slot machines from the upcoming Borderlands 4. Many players seem to agree, and the post explains that slot machines were an enjoyable feature and would also address a bigger issue: the feeling that in-game money has little value.
A recent post is asking for the return of slot machines to the game. The author feels that the in-game currency is effectively useless and that slot machines provided a fun way to spend it, as well as a good use for excess resources. They suggest that even if gambling isn’t desired, there needs to be something worthwhile to purchase, as currently there’s no incentive to collect and sell items beyond simply organizing inventory.
The high number of upvotes, combined with the overwhelmingly similar comments, strongly suggests people agree with this concern and are asking for a solution.
I was really disappointed after checking Moxxi Place, hoping to play slots but finding none. Another player expressed similar frustration, wondering why anyone would be concerned about gambling with in-game, non-real money in a game where you’re already defeating enemies with violent weapons.
Many longtime fans are disappointed with *Borderlands 4*. While our review gave it a good score (4/5), online user reviews are much more critical. The game currently has a “Mixed” rating on Steam, with players complaining about both technical problems and the removal of features they enjoyed in previous installments, such as slot machines and adjustable fields of view.
