Though the full release of *Silent Hill f* is still pending outside of the Deluxe Edition’s early access, initial reviews are in, and the game is getting a lot of positive feedback. Series producer Motoi Okamoto recently shared his excitement about the reviews on social media, noting that the game currently has a Metacritic score of 86 – the same as the upcoming *Silent Hill 2* remake developed by Bloober Team.
Okamoto explained that choosing Ryukishi07, the creator of *Higurashi When They Cry*, to write the story for *Silent Hill f*, and focusing on action-based gameplay, were good choices. He acknowledged these decisions might not appeal to everyone. While the combat sparked some debate, he noted the story itself was almost universally praised.
Okamoto shared on X (formerly Twitter) that he’s delighted *Silent Hill f* earned a Metascore of 86, matching the score of the *Silent Hill 2* remake. He noted the game, set in Japan with a story by Ryukishi07 and a focus on combat, was likely to be controversial due to its difficulty, and expressed gratitude for the positive reception. Despite some differing opinions, the story has received widespread praise from the media, proving that choosing Mr. Ryukishi07 to work on it was a great decision. It’s a project that should appeal to both fans of his work and those who enjoy *Silent Hill*, and I believe both groups will want to share it with others.
Players who purchased the Deluxe Edition are already enjoying *Silent Hill f*, but everyone else will be able to play it on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S starting later this week, on September 25th.
The launch trailer for *Silent Hill f* recently dropped, giving fans a good look at the horror coming in the newest installment of the popular series. The game follows Hinako, a schoolgirl living in the 1960s fishing town of Ebisugaoka. The trailer shows Hinako is struggling with her parents, and she must fight to survive when a mysterious fog descends upon the town.
Initial reports about *Silent Hill f* suggested the game would take players between 12 and 13 hours to complete. Konami had also stated there would be multiple endings to discover, and extra content available only after finishing the game and starting a New Game Plus.
Although the newest *Silent Hill* game features a lot of combat, the producer, Okamoto, clarified it wasn’t meant to be like a “soulslike” game. He explained the combat was more similar to what players experienced in previous *Silent Hill* titles, such as *Silent Hill 3* and *4*.
We’re thrilled to receive a Metascore of 86, the same as the Silent Hill 2 remake! Given the game’s ambitious features – a Japanese setting, a scenario by Yosuke Saito, and a focus on combat – we anticipated some mixed opinions. We’re incredibly grateful for such positive feedback.
