On January 12th, 2026, BioWare’s Anthem will cease operation. The servers will be turned off, making the game unplayable since it doesn’t have an offline mode. EA has stopped selling the game and its premium currency, but those with EA Play or Play Pro subscriptions can still play it until August 15th.
It’s reassuring to know that BioWare won’t be undergoing layoffs, given the situation. However, considering that Anthem has been in a critical condition following the cancellation of its significant overhaul known as Anthem Next, it’s no wonder that there were no developers allocated to it.
The video game titled “Anthem” can be played right now on Xbox One, PS4, and personal computers. Upon its release in 2019, both players and critics provided unfavorable feedback. In response, BioWare decided to revise the loot, progression, and overall gameplay. Instead of seasonal updates, they concentrated on Anthem Next.
This year, there were major changes at the studio because the game, “Dragon Age: The Veilguard,” didn’t do as well as expected. Currently, fewer than 100 team members are working on the upcoming “Mass Effect.
