Sister Wives’ Meri Brown Reveals What She’s Looking for in a Husband

Picking a husband is no laughing matter.

Meri Brown, from the show *Sister Wives*, has a funny requirement for anyone hoping to date her.

She admitted that if someone is bothered by her loud laugh, they simply won’t understand her, and that’s okay – they’re not meant to connect with her anyway. This comment was made during filming for the upcoming September 28th episode of the TLC series.

Meri Brown, who was married to Kody Brown for over 20 years before their divorce in 2014 and final split in 2023, says her next husband needs to be okay with her distinctive laugh – a sort of snort. As she told her friend Jen Sullivan, she wants a man who ‘knows and loves’ that part of her.

Kody Brown admitted he didn’t mind Meri’s distinctive laugh, even describing it as a ‘snort.’ Speaking in a private interview, he jokingly added that he wouldn’t have been bothered even if she accidentally farted while laughing. Kody is currently only married to Robyn Brown, following separations from Janelle Brown and Christine Brown.

But Meri also has other prerequisites on her mind as she begins speed dating.

The 54-year-old said she’s looking for someone who is kind, friendly, and very comfortable with themselves. Ideally, she’d like to meet a tall man – six feet or taller – with warm, kind eyes.

After all, as she noted, “You can see if somebody’s a good person by looking in their eyes.”

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been following the journeys of the former sister wives, and it’s fascinating to see how differently everyone approaches dating after divorce. While Christine, who married David Woolley last year, and Janelle have both said they’d never consider speed dating – Janelle prefers meeting someone naturally – I actually admire Meri’s willingness to try different things. She’s open to exploring all options, and I think that’s a really healthy approach to finding connection.

She admitted that dating can be tricky, as some people simply aren’t looking for a relationship. However, she also said it’s helping her learn to trust her own instincts.

We’re getting a look at Meri Brown’s dating life soon after she explained why she’s keeping her married name, even though she’s permanently separated from Kody.

Meri explained on the September 12th episode of the *I Do, Part 2* podcast that she’s discussed this topic with her close friend and others, but she isn’t going to discuss it further at this time.

Meri has become accustomed to the last name she took when she was 19, and she feels her birth name, Meri Barber, doesn’t sound as good when spoken aloud.

She joked that the word had many ‘R’s and was difficult to pronounce, adding that ‘brown’ was much simpler.
