Thanks to new technology, animators are discovering innovative paths to success, and Dana Terrace, creator of Owl House, is a great example. She recently launched a pilot episode through Glitch Productions for a new animated series described as a “psychological thriller.” Unlike her previous work, this project wouldn’t likely air on Disney Channel. However, the pilot has already attracted a large audience, proving that animation can thrive both independently and through major studios.
Unlike *Owl House*, *Knights of Guinevere* is set in a far-future world with incredibly advanced technology. The story is described as a psychological thriller taking place in a massive, planet-spanning amusement park in the clouds – and the darker secrets hidden below. It follows a damaged android princess and whether she can offer two people a chance at a better life, or lead to their destruction. The animated pilot has quickly gained popularity, racking up over ten million views in just five days, suggesting the creator has a compelling new story.
Why Knights of Guinevere Is Worth The Watch
There aren’t many animated shows quite like *Knights of Guinevere*, and that’s a good thing. The story centers around a mascot from an amusement park, but its origins are surprisingly dark. Even though the main character, Princess Android, is a robot, she faces incredibly difficult challenges that can be tough to watch. While this series wouldn’t likely appear on Disney Channel due to its mature themes, it still showcases the amazing animation work of Terrace, who also helped make *The Owl House* so popular with fans.
Even though more episodes haven’t been officially announced, the show’s rapidly growing audience is encouraging news for fans hoping to see more of the Princess Android universe. YouTube has helped launch several popular original animated series, with the Hellaverse being a prime example. Series like *Hazbin Hotel* and *Helluva Boss* began online and were later acquired by Amazon Prime Video, reaching a much wider audience. While it’s not certain if a streaming service will pick up *Knights of Guinevere*, the current trends suggest this project from Dana Terrace could follow a similar path to those created by Charlie Morningstar and Blitzo.
Dana Terrace has made it clear she doesn’t plan to return to work on *The Owl House*. She doesn’t want to create a fourth season or spend her career revisiting a single idea. She assures fans that if her plans ever change, they’ll hear the news directly from her, not from rumors online.
