StarCraft is BACK … in Diablo 4 — with limited time cosmetics

…Well, kind of.

Blizzard Entertainment (now also part of Xbox after Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard) has brought elements of its popular sci-fi strategy series to Diablo 4, their 2023 dark fantasy action game. Players can purchase themed cosmetic items – like eight different skin sets, three weapon styles, and three profile banners – in the game’s shop.

Players can unlock a variety of cosmetic items, including bundles for the Spiritborn and Druid classes, and skins for the Necromancer, Rogue, Sorcerer, and Barbarian. There’s also a pet bundle, and a mount called the Zergling Rush – a nod to the classic fast-attack strategy from the game StarCraft.

Players can also get three free weapon skins – a wand, a polearm, and a crossbow – plus three profile emblems. These emblems are immediately available in the Shop, with one releasing today, September 26th, another on September 27th, and the last on September 28th.

If the new skin packs follow the pricing of past cosmetic items, each will likely cost 2,800 Platinum, which is about $25. The in-game shop has received criticism for its prices since launch over two years ago, and it doesn’t seem like those prices will be changing anytime soon.

These special skins won’t be available in the Shop forever. According to details shared in the trailer, they’ll disappear when Diablo 4 Season 10 (Season of Infernal Chaos) ends, likely in December. However, there’s a chance they might return to the Store sometime in the future.

To get the Spiritborn cosmetic bundle, you’ll first need to own the Vessel of Hatred expansion for Diablo 4. This is because the Spiritborn class, which the cosmetics are for, is only available with that expansion.

It typically retails for $49.99, but currently there are some great deals. Subscribers can play on Xbox and PC through Xbox Game Pass, and there was a free-to-play window on Steam until October 2nd. Right now, it’s discounted on most platforms, with Steam offering the lowest price at $22.49.
