Silent Hill f already crossed this sales milestone — it’s now the fastest-selling Silent Hill game ever

Konami’s Silent Hill franchise is making a strong comeback! The newest game, Silent Hill f, has already sold over a million copies, according to Konami’s recent announcement. This makes it the fastest-selling Silent Hill game in history, surpassing even the Silent Hill 2 remake, which has sold over 2 million copies since its release last year.

Before Silent Hill f launched in June 2025, the entire Silent Hill series had already sold over 11.7 million copies, so this new release is a major success for the franchise.

The game was developed by NeoBards Entertainment, a studio known for assisting with popular titles like Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and the Resident Evil series. Silent Hill f is the first full-priced, new installment in the series since 2012’s Silent Hill Downpour.

Konami previously released a free Silent Hill game, Silent Hill: The Short Message, last year, but it received mixed reactions, with some appreciating its themes while others criticized its structure.

I’m thrilled that Silent Hill is back in force

It wasn’t long ago that the future of the Silent Hill series looked bleak. After the cancellation of Silent Hills due to a falling out between Konami and Hideo Kojima, fans feared the franchise was over.

However, things have dramatically improved recently. The critically acclaimed Silent Hill 2 remake by Bloober Team was a huge success, and now NeoBards has followed up with Silent Hill f.

This marks a real turnaround for Silent Hill, and it’s also been a good year for Konami, who recently released a successful remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, selling over a million copies.

I haven’t had time to play Silent Hill f yet – I’ve been enjoying Hades 2 – but I’ve purchased it and plan to start playing this week. It’s great that it supports Xbox Play Anywhere, allowing seamless play across consoles and PC.

I’m also hoping to see a release of the Silent Hill 2 remake on Xbox soon, as it was initially a PlayStation 5 exclusive, and that exclusivity period should be ending shortly.

Looking ahead, Bloober Team is continuing to work on the series with a remake of the original Silent Hill game, though details are scarce at this time, including which platforms it will be available on.

I’m still disappointed that the Silent Hills project with Kojima was cancelled, but it looks like he’s getting back into the horror genre with his new game, OD, which will be published by Xbox Game Studios.

OD will be released in episodes, and Kojima himself is directing one chapter, titled “Knock.” Horror filmmaker Jordan Peele will direct another. While there’s no release date yet, a creepy new trailer was shown at Tokyo Game Show.

I’m really interested to see which other directors will be involved, and I have a few ideas, but nothing confirmed.
