A significant chapter is closing as Solar Opposites prepares for its final season, with a new trailer now available on Hulu. Solar Opposites originally premiered on the streaming platform in 2020, and initially, many viewers compared it to Rick and Morty, especially since one of its creators was involved (and has since left the series due to controversy). However, it quickly became apparent that the show would forge its own path, crafting a delightfully strange and original science fiction world with its own distinct humor.
Solar Opposites is concluding after its upcoming sixth season, which will be released on Hulu this October. A new trailer and poster hint that the animated series will finish strong. The show’s main characters appear to be facing some major, world-threatening foes, and we can also expect the storylines of its side plots-like The Wall and Silver Cops-to be resolved. You can watch the trailer below.
What to Know for Solar Opposites Season 6
I’m excited to share that Season 6 of Solar Opposites is dropping all at once on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ on October 13th. The familiar voices we love will be back – that’s Dan Stevens as Korvo, Thomas Middleditch as Terry, Sean Giambrone as Yumyulack, and Mary Mack as Jesse. And there’s a great lineup of guest stars joining them for the final season, including Tiffany Haddish, Kieran Culkin, Christina Hendricks, Ken Marino, Alfred Molina, Natalie Morales, Jerry O’Connell, and Beck Bennett. I’ve heard some of these guest stars play a really significant role, especially in continuing the storylines for Wall and Silver Cops.
Regarding the upcoming final season, Hulu describes Solar Opposites Season 6 like this: “After their device for making alien diamonds breaks, the Solar Opposites face their biggest problem yet: figuring out how to maintain their lavish lifestyle on a limited budget! When they can no longer indulge in shopping and pricey pastimes, they’ll be forced to confront who they really are…and they might not like what they discover. ALSO: The long, detailed story of the people of The Wall has been leading to this exciting and surprising ending…”
Why Solar Opposites Is Ending
During an interview with ComicBook at San Diego Comic-Con 2025 earlier this year, series co-creator Mike McMahan shared that the animated series was canceled by Hulu, not a decision made by the Solar Opposites team. He explained, “We realized one day that we had been canceled by the network, so we decided to make this the final season.” McMahan continued, “We could have continued making it, but without funding, it would have been very basic. The artists need to be able to support themselves with food and healthcare.”
Although Solar Opposites is ending, the creators were aware of the cancellation beforehand and were able to finish all the existing storylines. As McMahan explained, “We went into this season knowing it would be the last, but we see it as the end of a first phase.” He added, “You’ll see a satisfying conclusion to many ongoing jokes and plots, including those involving The Wall and the Silver Cops – it all comes together.”
