Adam Sandler only has a blank space for Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift when it comes to marriage advice.
Although the comedian has been married to Jackie Sandler for more than 22 years, he says he doesn’t usually give advice-even to his Happy Gilmore 2 co-star and the “Karma” singer, who revealed they were engaged in August.
“He’s doing well,” Adam shared with TopMob News at the premiere of Netflix’s Jay Kelly on September 29th at the New York Film Festival. “He cares for her deeply, just as I feel about my wife.”
Additionally, Adam pointed out that the aim of any relationship is “to find happiness as a couple, while still remaining true to yourselves.”
“That’s where they’re at,” he added of Travis and Taylor, “and that’s where me and my girl are at.”
Adam is truly captivated by the couple’s romance. He recently shared with Travis that whenever Taylor is laughing with you, my whole entire family is celebrating with high-fives.
“You being together,” Adam gushed on the Aug. 28 episode of New Heights. “That photo of when you first started dating, my family was like, ‘Yes! Look how good they are together! He’s a gentleman! And she’s having so much fun with him!’”
Plus, Taylor holds a special place in the Saturday Night Live alum’s heart.
“What a girl,” Adam said with enthusiasm. He and his wife have two daughters, Sadie, 19, and Sunny, 16. “She’s incredibly important to our family. When the kids were young, we used to listen to Taylor Swift-it was one of the first albums we all listened to from beginning to end.”
And that’s how the 59-year-old became a Swiftie.
“I really enjoy listening to her while driving,” Adam went on. “I appreciate everything about her music – the lyrics, the tunes, and how it’s all put together. She had a huge impact on young girls, continues to inspire women, and resonates with men striving to live good lives.”

Even before Taylor Swift‘s appearance at the Kansas City Chiefs game on September 24, 2023 became a major cultural event, Travis Kelce was a fan of the award-winning singer.
The star tight end first showed interest in Taylor, as shared by a teammate in a TikTok video the Chiefs posted in August 2023 (looking back, this was around the time they began dating in secret).
Before Travis had a chance to say who he had a crush on, wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling quickly revealed, “Taylor Swift!”
Travis smiled at the camera before holding his finger up to his mustache, saying, “Alright now!”
Also, Travis wasn’t the only famous face at Taylor’s incredibly popular Eras Tour – he was there before they even started dating! We’ll share more about that special occasion shortly…
He often seems lost in thought (particularly when watching Taylor on the jumbotron at his games), but Travis is a bit different from Taylor’s past boyfriends. Looking back at her dating history, he really stands out.
She generally seems to be drawn to people in creative fields, such as actors (Joe Alwyn, Jake Gyllenhaal, Taylor Lautner and Tom Hiddleston) and musicians (Calvin Harris, John Mayer, Harry Styles and, more recently, Matty Healy).
Maybe that explains why her relationship with the fun and playful athlete-who agreed to a new two-year contract with the Chiefs for $34.25 million in 2024-seems like a welcome change for Taylor, especially after her very private six-year relationship with Joe ended in April 2023.
It seems the 10-time Pro Bowler got what he wanted – a relationship with the superstar. He practically made it happen through strong desire, perseverance, and openly expressing his feelings.
Travis recently shared the story of how he tried to meet Taylor at her Eras Tour concert in Kansas City on July 7, 2023. He revealed he’d made a special gift for her – a friendship bracelet with his “number” on it – hoping to give it to her. (He didn’t confirm whether it was his jersey number or phone number.)
Even though he said he was “disappointed” about not seeing her after the concert, Taylor told TIME in December 2023 that she eventually listened to his podcast.
She remembered that Travis playfully called her out on his podcast, and she thought it was really cool. They started spending time together right after that, and they actually had a good amount of time to get to know each other privately, which she appreciated.
Regarding the idea that their first official outing was at the game on Sept. 24, Taylor explained to TIME, “We definitely wouldn’t be so eager to publicly announce a first date like that.”
Ever since she started dating Travis, Taylor has been out and about more often. This includes spending time with friends in New York City and celebrating at events like the 2023 MTV VMAs and the 2024 Grammys.
However, the appearance that generated the most buzz was when she was seen sitting in Travis’ suite at the Chief’s game on September 24, 2023, against the Chicago Bears.
Instead of being embarrassed by the attention, Taylor excitedly cheered and shouted “Let’s fking go!” when Travis scored a touchdown. Similar to the public, Travis even confessed he was surprised by Taylor accepting his invitation.
You know, as someone who follows these things, I have to say, what Taylor did showing up was really bold – and I admire that! As Travis Kelce shared on his New Heights podcast a few days later, everyone in their suite was just raving about her. It was so heartwarming to hear that all his friends and family thought she was amazing. It really speaks volumes, doesn’t it?
“She looked amazing,” he added. ” It was definitely a game I will remember, that’s for damn sure.”
Ever since then, Taylor and Travis have been seen holding hands on dates in various cities around the globe. They’ve also frequently visited a Christmas-themed bar in Kansas City, and weren’t hesitant to show public displays of affection there.
Following her disclosure to TIME that she stepped back from public life after the widely publicized 2016 leak of a phone call involving Kim Kardashian, Taylor is now planning to attend events tonight…and as often as she pleases, if you don’t mind.
“Life is short,” she said. “Have adventures. Me locking myself away in my house for a lot of years—I’ll never get that time back. I’m more trusting now than I was six years ago.”
On his podcast from September 27, 2023, Travis was willing to share some details about his interactions with Taylor, but he also made it clear that he wants to be more careful about discussing his personal life in the future.
I realize I’m the one who brought all this focus onto myself,” he said. “I made and shared those friendship bracelets, and I openly talked about being upset that I hadn’t met Taylor.” But, he added, he hadn’t intended to share every detail of their connection.
He clarified, “The truth is, this is my private life, and I want to be respectful of both our lives.” He continued, “I’m having a good time, and I definitely enjoyed this past weekend. From now on, I think I’ll limit my comments to sports and just say ‘alright nah’ – that’s where I’ll keep it.”
In a November 2023 interview with the Wall Street Journal, he strongly reaffirmed his intention to remain calm and composed.
“Everybody around me telling me: Don’t f–k this up! And me sitting here saying: Yeah—got it,” he told the outlet, before addressing the media attention. “That was the biggest thing to me: make sure I don’t say anything that would push Taylor away.”

He confessed to WSJ that he’s never been very talkative. He continued, saying that being with her and witnessing Taylor’s intelligence has been incredibly inspiring – a truly mind-blowing experience. He added that he’s constantly learning from her.
Similar to Taylor, who has a strong relationship with her parents, especially her mother Andrea, Travis comes from a close and supportive family, including his parents Ed and Donna Kelce.
Donna Kelce gained widespread recognition as the first mother with two sons competing against each other in the Super Bowl. Her sons, Travis and Jason Kelce, faced off in the championship game in February 2023, making it a particularly special event.
It took a lot for everything to fall into place – for them to finish high school, go to college, and then play professionally. And then to both make it to the Pro Bowl and the Super Bowl, and now for this to happen,” Donna shared with ET at the time. “It really feels like a dream come true. I can’t put into words how meaningful this is for our family, it’s just incredible.”
Donna, after a 25-year marriage to Ed that ended in divorce, showed her support for both of her sons by wearing a unique jacket – it was half Eagles colors and half Chiefs colors.
Following the Super Bowl – where the Chiefs defeated the Eagles – Travis and Jason became visibly moved as they thought about sharing the moment with their mother, Donna.
“Seeing my mom was when I really started to tear up,” Jason shared on the brothers’ New Heights podcast. “It was just amazing…She was incredibly happy for a whole week.”
“She was a true champion,” Travis added. “She was completely in control and consistently excelled throughout.”
Similar to Taylor and her brother Austin Swift, Travis shares a close relationship with his older brother Jason, who first motivated him to play football.
Beyond their successful careers in the NFL, Travis and Jason Kelce started their podcast New Heights in September 2022. This venture has not only brought them closer together but has also been financially rewarding.
We established a regular time, about two to three hours, to check in with each other and discuss what we were experiencing both during the week and in the games,” Travis explained to NBC Sports in February 2023. “It’s been almost like therapy, man.
Although the two didn’t officially meet until 2023, there were several unseen connections between them beforehand. They weren’t strangers, as a few subtle links had been quietly bringing them together.
Both Taylor and Travis are friends with Miles Teller. The Top Gun: Maverick actor and his wife, Keleigh Sperry, were even asked by Taylor to appear in the music video for her 2021 song, “I Bet You Think About Me,” from Red (Taylor’s Version).
I was so excited to see that Travis spent some time with Miles and Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs quarterback! They were all practicing their golf game before the American Century Championship in 2022, getting ready for the tournament. It was great to see them all together!
Miles shared a photo on Twitter of himself golfing with the athletes, captioning it, “Grip it and rip it.” Travis confirmed their close friendship-a true bromance-by resharing the photo and writing, “Back at it like we never left!!”
(It’s funny, Miles is a big, dedicated Philadelphia Eagles fan, so maybe he helped arrange a real-life meeting between Travis and Taylor?)
Although Taylor went to the game on Sept. 24, 2023, by herself, she was accompanied by a group of famous friends when she watched the Chiefs play against the New York Jets at Metlife Stadium in New Jersey on Oct. 1.
She was joined by her close friends Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, along with Hugh Jackman, a friend of Reynolds. Also present were Sophie Turner, Sabrina Carpenter, and Queer Eye‘s Antoni Porowski.
Although showing up to the game was significant, it was even more revealing when Ryan started following Travis on Instagram.
Travis hasn’t just played in four Super Bowls – he’s won three of them (no big deal!), but he’s also hosted Saturday Night Live, proving he’s comfortable performing under pressure.
It might not seem like a big deal, but Taylor Swift has written several songs about her worry that being so famous could be difficult for anyone she dates. (For examples, listen to “Peace” and “The Archer.”)
It really comes down to the people you’re with,” Taylor explained. “If they strongly disapprove, you might feel pressured to conceal things, but I’m not comfortable with that. It feels like I’m doing something wrong, like I’m running from the law. I don’t want to feel like I need to hide our relationship, like, ‘Oh my gosh, we’re together, so we have to keep it secret!’ “
“I feel like if you can be in a relationship and have it seem normal, that would be good.”
During his WSJ interview, Travis showed he can handle the challenges of being married to someone as influential as Taylor.
I’ve never been with someone who carries themselves like that… it’s new territory for me,” he explained. “However, I’m definitely not avoiding it or backing down from the challenge.”
He explained that she’s constantly under intense public observation – the paparazzi follow her everywhere, daily, whether it’s at her home, restaurants, or even when she arrives after a flight – and she’s simply trying to live and enjoy her life. He continued, saying, “When she acts like that I better not be the one acting all strange.”
Fans are convinced Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s romance is straight out of a romantic comedy after a concertgoer filmed Taylor running into Travis’ arms for a sweet kiss following her Argentina show in November 2023. This came after she playfully changed the lyrics to Karma from “the guy on the screen” to “the guy on the Chiefs,” surprising Travis, who was in the audience with her father, Scott Swift.
Supporting each other at games-Taylor went to 13 Chiefs games during her first season with Travis, even flying directly from a show in Tokyo to attend the Super Bowl-demonstrates the strength of their commitment. It really shows how serious they are about each other. This level of support is significant.
Oh my gosh, I’m just living for the fact that I get to see him doing what he loves! It’s amazing because it feels like we’re all just showing up for each other, and honestly, who cares who else is there? Taylor told TIME all about it, and it’s just…everything. She said the opposite of that is hiding everything, going to crazy lengths to keep things secret. But they’re not doing that! They’re just so proud of each other, and it makes me so happy to witness it!
So, if seeing Taylor at the NFL games bothers you, she’s simply not going to let it upset her – she won’t even hold a grudge.
She explained that there’s a camera about half a mile away, and she has no clue where it is or when it might be broadcasting her image. “I don’t know if I’m being shown 17 times or just once,” she said. “I’m simply there to support Travis. I really have no idea if I’m getting too much airtime and upsetting some people-dads, Brads, and Chads, especially.”
Travis was born in—are you ready for it?—1989. Screaming, crying, throwing up, etc.
Regarding Killa Trav’s birthday on October 5th, it’s interesting to note he shares it with Taylor Swift’s grandmother, Marjorie Finlay, who inspired the song “Marjorie” from her 2020 album evermore. It almost feels like a meaningful coincidence…
