Even before Halloween arrives, The Hallmark Channel is already focusing on Christmas! As loyal viewers know, the Countdown to Christmas (featuring around-the-clock holiday programs and many new, original movies) typically starts in mid-October and continues until December. This year follows that same pattern, but there are a few significant changes that some longtime Hallmark fans might not agree with.
The biggest change for 2025 is a significant reduction in the number of new Countdown to Christmas movies. This year, Hallmark will release 24 original films, compared to approximately 40 in recent years. While that’s still a substantial amount, it represents a considerable decrease. To compensate for this, Hallmark is offering original TV shows, such as Mistletoe Murders and Twelve Dates ‘Til Christmas, which will be broadcast on Friday evenings during the Countdown to Christmas event.
Another significant change happening this year is that the Hallmark Mystery channel will no longer be releasing new, original movies. Previously, Hallmark Mystery’s Miracles of Christmas featured new films on Thursdays, leading into the weekend of movies on the main Hallmark Channel, which started on Fridays. This year, Hallmark Mystery will continue to show a 24/7 holiday marathon of Miracles of Christmas, but it won’t include any brand new original content.
Hallmark is undergoing quite a few changes recently, but it continues to offer the largest selection of Christmas movies. Their Countdown to Christmas films begin on October 18th, with the last new movie premiering on December 21st. And, each new film will be available to stream on Hallmark+ the day after it first airs on television.
Here’s a complete list of Hallmark’s 2025 Countdown to Christmas movies. You’ll find a summary of each film, the starring actors, and some initial photos. Below, you can check it all out.

A Make or Break Holiday (Saturday, Dec. 20th)
As a total holiday movie fanatic, I’m already hooked by the premise of this one! The cast includes Hunter King and Evan Roderick. Here’s what it’s about: a couple is bringing both of their families together for the holidays for the very first time, and things are getting *really* tense. They’re on the verge of breaking up, but they’re desperately trying to hide it until after Christmas. Can you imagine the stress? I’m definitely adding this to my watchlist!
