Beloved Australian actor, who was born in Sydney and gained fame through roles in popular dramas like Nip/Tuck, Charmed, FBI: Most Wanted, and playing Doctor Doom in the 2005 film adaptation, has tragically passed away at the age of 56. His wife confirmed the sad news, expressing her grief.
Openly expressing my feelings, I want to announce that my cherished spouse, Julian McMahon, passed away this week following his brave battle against cancer. Julian embraced life wholeheartedly. He treasured his family, friends, and colleagues. He found joy in his work, and he appreciated his fans immensely. His most fervent desire was to spread happiness among as many people as possible. At this difficult time, we request understanding and space for our family’s grieving process. We also hope that those whose lives Julian touched with joy will continue to find it in their own ways. We are thankful for the beautiful memories we shared.
As Julian Dana William McMahon, born in 1968, he initially pursued a career in law and economics. However, his path took an unexpected turn when he transitioned into modeling. Traveling the globe on catwalks for several years, McMahon eventually found acting success in the Australian soap opera “Home and Away” in 1990. This early success was followed by a role as Ian Rain in NBC’s “Another World”.
McMahon made a significant mark on television starting in 2003 when he starred as Dr. Christian Troy in Ryan Murphy’s FX series “Nip/Tuck,” which continued until 2010. Additionally, McMahon played the half-demon character Cole Turner on Charmed, expanding his fanbase. For his performance in Nip/Tuck, McMahon received a nomination for a Golden Globe award.
In the year 2005, the actor took on the character of Victor Von Doom in Marvel’s Fantastic Four and its sequel, Rise of the Silver Surfer. He also played a hitman in Smokin’ Aces and portrayed Sandra Bullock’s time-displaced husband in Premonition. Fast forward to 2020, he reappeared on television networks, assuming the role of Jess LaCroix in CBS’s FBI: Most Wanted. However, he left the show after three seasons in 2022.
