Even though Halloween is still weeks away, Supermassive Games is kicking off the spooky season early with the launch of Little Nightmares 3 next week. The game takes place in a world called The Spiral and follows two new characters, Low and Alone, as they try to escape. A new trailer has been released, and appropriately, it’s inspired by the poem “Alone” by Edgar Allan Poe.
The lines, “From childhood’s hour, I have not been as others were. I have not seen as others saw. I could not awaken my heart to joy at the same tone”, create a rather unsettling feeling. However, these words could also be used to describe the character Alone. Even more ominous are the words, “And all I loved, I loved alone.” Despite this, “through endless nights and stormy weather,” they still confront their “childhood fears together.”
The trailer gives us glimpses of locations we’ve seen before – the Carnevale and Necropolis – but also shows Low stuck inside a dangling cage, with Alone attempting a rescue. We also see a disturbing scene: a body bag with a noose falls out of a dresser, along with the two main characters. Finally, the trailer features a hotel, where the pair rides an elevator, hinting at even more frightening events to come.
Little Nightmares 3 will be released on October 10th for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PC, PS4, and PS5. You can download a free demo to play the first level right now.
