Hulk Actor Mark Ruffalo Revealed The Other Marvel Hero He’d Have Liked To Play (And I’m Into It TBH)

It’s been a little over ten years since it began, and The Marvel Cinematic Universe is still captivating audiences with new movies in theaters and on Disney+. Those who’ve been watching the Marvel films in order have a special fondness for the original Avengers team, especially Mark Ruffalo‘s portrayal of Bruce Banner/Hulk. Recently, the Oscar-nominated actor shared which other hero he would have enjoyed playing.

Many fans were disappointed when Mark Ruffalo wasn’t listed among the cast for Avengers: Doomsday, but he’s anticipated to appear in the next Marvel film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day. During an appearance on the show We’re Not Kidding with Mehdi and Friends, where he was answering questions quickly, he was asked which other character he’d enjoy playing. He immediately answered, saying:

Wolverine… When I was a kid, that was my guy. It was Hulk and him.

To be honest, it’s easy to imagine. Both Hulk and Wolverine fight fueled by anger, and we’ve seen Bruce Banner’s rage many times in the MCU. It wouldn’t be a huge stretch for Mark Ruffalo to play Logan, especially when you think about Wolverine’s height in the comics. The character is actually quite short-a “short king,” as some would say-and Hugh Jackman is 6’2″. Ruffalo, at 5’8″, is a much more fitting height, considering the 13 Going on 30 actor’s build.

Mark Ruffalo is a very talented actor, capable of playing both main characters and supporting roles. Considering how much he cares about the character of Wolverine, I’m confident he would have been excellent in the part. However, I’m a big fan of his portrayal of Bruce Banner and am excited to see what the future holds for this long-running character.

It’s hard to picture anyone else as Wolverine, given that Hugh Jackman has played the character for so long. His newest film, Deadpool & Wolverine, was a huge success in theaters, proving fans are still very excited about these characters together. The playful rivalry between Jackman and Ryan Reynolds was a big part of the promotion, and it seems likely the studio will team them up again in the future.

As we discussed earlier, the Poor Things actor is likely to star alongside Tom Holland in the upcoming Spider-Man movie. However, details about Brand New Day are currently very scarce. Recently, Mark Ruffalo hinted that his involvement might be uncertain, though it’s unclear whether he’s telling the truth or simply protecting the film’s secrets. It’s worth remembering that Ruffalo famously revealed the ending of Infinity War in the past.

We’re hoping to learn more about his involvement in Spider-Man: Brand New Day soon. The highly anticipated film is scheduled for release in theaters on July 31st as part of the 2026 film lineup. Currently, Ruffalo is appearing in Task, which you can watch on HBO every Sunday.
