Laura Dern Makes Her Big Little Runway Debut at 58

Laura Dern is now part of a marriage fashion story.

Oh my gosh, I was *completely* floored when I saw Big Little Lies‘ own Nicole Kidman walk the runway! It happened on October 1st during Paris Fashion Week at the Gabriela Hearst spring/summer 2026 show, and seriously, everyone was talking about it. I mean, she looked incredible! I couldn’t believe it – a true Hollywood icon making her runway debut! #ParisFashionWeek was buzzing!

For her significant achievement in high fashion, Laura looked breathtaking in a long, white dress. The dress was sleeveless, with a dropped waist, and beautifully decorated with hundreds of intricately crafted, three-dimensional floral embellishments. She finished the ensemble with a pair of coordinating sandals.

Although this might be Laura’s runway debut, she’s no stranger to fashion week. She actually went to the Ralph Lauren show earlier this month as part of New York Fashion Week.

It’s not surprising that Gabriela Hearst was the designer who helped Laura make her official fashion debut. The Jurassic Park star has frequently chosen designs by Hearst, even wearing one to her very first Met Gala. For that memorable 2017 event, Laura wore a navy gown featuring geometric cutouts.

Although Laura made her first appearance on the runway at Hearst’s Paris Fashion Week show, the actress has previously done modeling work.

In 2024, she appeared in advertisements for the French luxury brand Roger Vivier alongside her daughter, Jaya Harper, who is 20 years old. Previously, in 2021, Laura modeled designs with her son, Ellery Harper, 24, for Proenza Schouler’s gender-neutral collection, created in partnership with Mercedes-Benz. She also collaborated with her ex-husband, Ben Harper, on this project.

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been so impressed watching the Harper family blossom! In 2024, I had the wonderful experience of seeing my daughter, Jaya Harper, who’s 20, star alongside me in ads for the gorgeous French luxury brand, Roger Vivier. And it doesn’t stop there! Back in 2021, I joined my son, Ellery Harper, who’s 24, to model some incredible designs from Proenza Schouler’s gender-neutral capsule collection – a really exciting collaboration with Mercedes-Benz. It’s been a joy to share these moments with them both!

But ultimately, acting is Laura’s primary passion.

She shared with Vogue in 2015 that while she appreciates being called beautiful and enjoys modeling, she’s especially proud of the roles she chose to play. “It’s lovely to be considered pretty and lovely to do photo shoots, and I just love fashion,” she said, “But I’m proud that I did the characters I wanted to do.”

When it comes to supporting her kids from the sidelines, the Academy Award winner is truly exceptional and deserves recognition for her efforts. She’s a natural!

For example, she was present to cheer on Ellery when he first appeared on the runway, modeling at Raf Simons‘ Calvin Klein show during New York Fashion Week in 2018.

Laura, who had a front-row seat at the show, shared on Instagram how honored she was to see Raf Simons’ talent at Calvin Klein. She added it was particularly special because she was watching her son model for him, and she was the proudest mama.
